Hello everyone,

I own an Alpine iLX-F905D and I want to watch videos from a smartphone or an iPhone 14. To do this, I've pulled out an HDMI cable. Now, this is where I'm waiting for your advice on the equipment I need to connect between my phone and the HDMI port, and whether an application is required on the phone.

Thank you for your answers.

Best regards

Hello!

To display your smartphone or iPhone screen on your Alpine iLX-F905D, you will indeed need a cable. The type of cable depends on your phone.

1) If you are using an iPhone, you will need an Apple Lightning to HDMI adapter. You simply connect the adapter to your iPhone and the HDMI end to your existing HDMI cable.

2) If you have an Android smartphone, the type of cable needed depends on your phone's port. Many newer Android phones use a USB-C port, for these models, you will need a USB-C to HDMI cable. If your phone has a micro-USB port, you will need a micro-USB to HDMI cable.

Once your phone is connected to your car stereo, you will be able to display your phone's screen on the car stereo monitor by selecting the appropriate HDMI source in the car stereo menu.

As for applications, you usually won’t need one for screen mirroring. Your media content (videos, etc.) can be played from your phone’s standard app. However, to use certain features like Apple CarPlay or Android Auto (GPS, Spotify...), you will need to install the corresponding apps on your phone.
