No sound in the headphones since I got an Orange decoder.

Hello,

I have a SONY MDR RF885R headset and an LG32LS3500 TV. When I used the cable to connect to the TV, I had sound in the headset plugged into the TV with a Scart connection.

I switched to Orange, with the fiber offer and the 4h UHD decoder, and since then I can't get sound in the headset anymore. I've tried with the Scart, without it (the red and white cables), looking in the TV settings, the decoder settings, I've basically tried everything, still no sound in the headset.

What settings or connections do I need to make to get sound back in the headset? Thank you

If it helps, I also have a "wireless audio transmitter Audikast Plus with input"

Hello,

Your television has no other audio output than the one available on the SCART.

The solution involves an optical audio to analog converter to be connected to the audio output of the Orange 4K decoder.

Example: https://www.amazon.fr/AMANKA-Convertisseur-Num%C3%A9rique-Analogique-Adaptateur/dp/B074V56538/

or through an audio extractor on HDMI to be inserted between the HDMI output of the 4K decoder and the input socket of the television.

Thank you for this very detailed response! Can you tell me if the audio output of the decoder is indeed the SPDIF socket? If so, do I need to buy other cables because none of what I have at home fits into that? (noting that I ordered the converter)

Moreover, will it be possible to have sound in the headset + with the TV normally?

Absolutely...

The sound in both cases is provided by the 4K decoder.

If we use an Optical converter, the sound will reach the headset from the optical output (SPDIF) of the decoder via the converter and to the television via the HDMI cable.
A conversation, in general, should be carried out using the Orange remote control in the "sound" or "audio" menu to enable the optical digital output.

If we use an Audio extractor, the sound is transmitted via the HDMI output of the decoder to the extractor, which for the sound part will convert the digital sound to analog for the headset, while the image and sound for the television simply pass through the extractor.

Thank you! Phew! I was afraid it would be either one or the other! Another question: is the cable to connect the 4K decoder and the converter included, standard, or do I need to find one on Amazon as well? (or in regular stores)

If you are talking about the converter mentioned in the link, the optical cable shown in the picture is included in the delivery, as well as the power supply system.

I just realized that the 4K decoder doesn't have an optical digital output but a Coaxial digital output.

The AMANKA converter is therefore not suitable... it is better to prefer this one

https://www.amazon.fr/Convertisseur-num%C3%A9rique-analogique-R%C3%A9duction-Onduleur/dp/B07CZCC4D5

which, in addition to the optical input, has a Coaxial input.

However, you also need to purchase a Coaxial audio cable of this type

https://www.amazon.fr/FosPower-Num%C3%A9rique-Connecteurs-Subwoofer-syst%C3%A8mes/dp/B0184PIVFI/

Can these products work?

Absolutely...

Converter OK

Two digital inputs (optical and coaxial) with analog output on RCA left and right.

Coaxial audio cable OK - there may be a shorter one available

To connect your headphones, you need a jack cable on one end with RCA (left and right) on the other. A cable that seems to have been provided with your headphones.

My sincerest apologies for my mistake regarding the type of converter mentioned in my initial message.

Thank you for your valuable help! I will go buy all that tomorrow.. If I don't come back to post, it means everything will be OK.

Well... everything is "almost" good.

I don't really know why, but everything is perfect on some "classic" channels (TF1, FR2, etc.) but I have no sound in the headphones on some paid channels (C+films).

There is certainly a problem when the sound is transmitted in DTS or Dolby

Excerpt from: https://assistance.orange.fr/tv-decodeur/tous-les-decodeurs/installer-et-utiliser/brancher-ou-debrancher-votre-materiel/le-decodeur/nouveau-decodeur-tv-uhd-configurer-un-home-cinema-ou-une-barre-de-son-sans-port-hdmi_251004-792792

If you have connected a DAC (Digital Analog Converter also known as CNA for Digital to Analog Converter) to the S/PDIF output of your UHD TV decoder, you may experience noisy or inaudible sound, or even no sound at all on content with a Dolby or DTS audio track.

Check the decoder menu to see if there is a way to select the audio output format; if so, set it to PCM
