Touche ">" et "<" inexistantes sur mon clavier

Hello,

I have an AZERTY keyboard on my Thinkpad laptop, which does not have the keys ">" and "<"

see the photo of the keyboard above for more details, the keys simply do not exist...
I've tried using the ALT+060 and ALT+062 shortcuts, but it doesn't work on my PC (I don't know if I'm doing the operation correctly, do I need to hold down "ALT" while pressing 0, then 6, then 0?)

For now, I have to use the virtual keyboard to access them, but it's a hassle in my daily use... I'm taking a course on HTML programming, and I need them every day to create tags :/

If you have any ideas to help me, maybe by remapping a key to another shortcut than the one displayed on it?

    Hello,

    You could try Clavier+ : https://gryder.org/software/clavier-plus/?lang=en

To give it a try, I used ² for < and shift+² for > and it works.

In the software to create a shortcut, you need to use the + button, choose Write text, enter the shortcut key: ² then in the text area put what it corresponds to: <

It works!!! It's perfect, thank you very much! I put it on the ² because I think it's the key I'll need the least, and for the code I can always do ^2 it seems to me :)

If you really use the ², you can reassign it to keys that are hardly ever used: µ or ¤ or §

    Hello,

The ALT number key combinations only work with a numeric keypad, which is not the case; the simplest solution is therefore either to buy a wired USB keyboard or a USB numeric keypad, either one for a small amount of money.

If you don't want to, look up the characters in question in the character map (in Windows Accessories) and copy them into a text file on the desktop so you always have them on hand without having to reopen the character map.

Ah, that's why the shortcut isn't working! Thank you very much, for now I'm using the Windows on-screen keyboard, it stays open in the background, and whenever I need the keys, I look for them there. I'm going to test Jee Pee's solution.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, the solution with the ALT + 060 code only works with the numeric keypad (and not the numbers above the letters...).

I don't see any key combinations for your keyboard that might work...

(If necessary, specify the model of the PC so we can do some research....)

    But otherwise, you have:

To copy/paste the symbol (which you can find all over the internet and possibly save in a text document for future use)

Or, get an external keyboard that has those keys.

You can also wait a bit to see if others on the forum have any ideas/solutions to suggest other than the ones I've just given you.

    Best regards,
    Jordane

Thank you very much for the detailed response :)

I will test JeePee's solution and keep everyone updated

As for the model of the PC: it's a Lenovo T460, running Windows 10 Pro Version 22H2 (I don't know if having the Windows version makes a big difference)

        Hello,

When you bought your PC, was it new or second-hand?

Source : Keyboard keys for Lenovo ThinkPad T460. The key ">" and "<" is indeed present to the left of the character "W".
