Very loud PC ventilation

Hello,

I have a MEDION ERAZER DEPUTY P40 MD62564 PC

I also want to use it for my classes, but the fan is very loud when I'm using word processing to the point that I can no longer use it for classes for fear of disturbing others...

It's really very noisy and I don't understand why it only does this with word processing.... Is it normal?

Is there a way to reduce or mask this noise? Considering that I'm not very good with computers? Thank you in advance ;)

Hello,

If your ventilation is loud, there is a reason for that... Most often, it's to cool the components (the processor in particular).

Gifted or not, you need to improve the state of this PC on this subject...

In my opinion, there is way too much dust in there... you should open it up and remove the dust with a brush in one hand and a vacuum cleaner in the other... Everywhere.

You also need to clean the fan blades, the dust has stuck to them and is throwing off its balance, causing noise and reducing its efficiency...

You also need to clear the intake grilles underneath and the exhaust grille on the side or back... Run the brush bristles between the grilles to remove the dust...

Lift it from the back with a ruler for example to allow more air to pass through.

Of course, the area around and underneath must be clear, no sheets of paper or other documents obstructing... not in a cabinet either.

The fewer programs running in the background that require power from it...etc...etc...

And if that’s not enough, you might have to consider replacing the thermal paste in contact with the processor... but that’s more delicate for those who aren’t skilled... Hehe.

Good luck. In winter, it will be less hot.

Hello,

Thank you very much but it is almost new, I don’t see how there could be dust, it’s only 2 months old! Moreover, I wouldn't know how to open it to dust it.

It’s not in a piece of furniture or obstructed by anything because it’s on a classroom table...

It’s driving me crazy....

If you had said from the beginning that it was two months old... I might have not focused so much on the dust...

Of course, we should measure this noise to see if it's intended like this... or not?

But you should go back to your seller, explain to him what you blame this equipment for... and activate the warranty, to get another one, less noisy...

That should have been your first reaction...

Thank you, I thought about it, but it's an appliance store, and before I want to be sure that this noise is not normal or due to an update? (I was told about the BIOS... but I don't know if that gets updated at the same time as Windows updates? Because it didn't seem to make this noise at first... Does the BIOS always update during Windows updates?)

It was on sale, but originally it's a pretty expensive gaming PC (at least for me, lol) and I don't understand why it makes so much noise even during simple word processing;.. :(

So, the BIOS is never updated... It's only Windows when they talk to you about updates on a PC...

The BIOS update is done through a special action, which comes from your own will. If the PC is "working," I advise against these BIOS updates, and you'll also find plenty of reading that advises against it... There are too many risks of locking the PC... forever (that's the bottom line)

What is this word processor..? Could you change it..? There might be some settings to adjust to improve that.

And what's your version of Windows..?

It is said on the forums about the Medion Erazer that there is a control center, can I perhaps adjust my fans with that?

There is also fan control which seems pretty good, could I reduce the noise with it? Without any risks?

Yes, it is possible. I am not familiar with these "Builder" utilities, there should be a user manual included or available for download... to know what is possible, or not, with this.

I suggest you take notes or photographs of what is displayed, so you can refer back to it if needed.

To lower the fan speed, you need to monitor the CPU temperature afterward... it should not rise dangerously; let’s say a maximum of 100° with its i5 processor.

HWinfo https://www.commentcamarche.net/telecharger/utilitaires/11905-hwinfo/

is a good tool to monitor the values of the PC while it is running.

You need to experiment... through successive approaches, take good notes, then adopt a midpoint.. You may return to it a little later..

Hello, thank you for your response. I no longer had access to the internet.

It's Windows 11

At first, I tried with Open Office, and to make it less noisy, I used Notepad and then WordPad, but it starts again! It's a computer that originally costs 1300 euros, so if we can't do word processing on it without a huge noise and can only do gaming, I don't find that very normal lol a bit ridiculous!

And with "NotePad", it also makes noise..? (too much noise)..??

Because Notepad is really simple and shouldn't heat up this PC...

In my opinion, this is a problem to address with the seller, under warranty... because time passes and in the end, the warranty will be over...

Moreover, nothing should be touched, at the risk of losing the warranty...
