Home cinema to TV / Peritel to HDMI

Hello,

The Sharp TV has broken down and the new Samsung doesn't have a Peritel socket to connect the Pioneer home theater. So I bought a scart to HDMI cable, which is powered by 5V via a small cord plugged into a USB port on the TV.

It works, but the quality is terrible!!! There are 2 settings on the cable, 1080 or 720, but it doesn't change anything.

Moreover, the sound goes through the soundbar connected to the TV. Nothing from the 6 speakers of the home theater.

Is there any way to do better? To watch a DVD on TV with sound in 5.1 and see TV shows with sound on the soundbar.

    Hello,

    Can you specify what Pioneer Home Cinema you have? ... Does it have an Optical connector?

    PS: I connected my TV to the speakers of the Panasonic mini-chain using the Optical cable.

    "SCART to HDMI cable": even powered, this kind of product never works! First: you need a converter, not an adapter, which is not the same thing.

    "but the quality is terrible!!!": that's normal, you are viewing analog images/sounds on a digital medium. You will never get quality even with a converter.

    "1080 or 720, but it doesn’t change anything.": if the number of lines on the screen matters. But a shitty signal, whether it's in 1080 or 720, will always be shitty.

    "Is there any way to do better?": what is connected to the SCART (Peritel)?
    A VHS tape?

    You probably have RCA plugs (yellow, red, and white).
    Yellow analog video.
    Red right audio channel.
    White left audio channel.

    Preferably use it with a converter to USB or HDMI.
    Note that in any case, whether adapter or converter, your video will always be analog.
    The interest of HDMI is that it carries both video and sound! just like USB does as well.
