Aliexpress does not validate the address in Guadeloupe.

When I enter a delivery address in Guadeloupe, Aliexpress does not validate it, even though Guadeloupe is correctly listed.

Has anyone encountered this problem? Did they solve it? If so, thank you for your help.

Have a nice day

Keren

For me, Guadeloupe is a tax exception. Although it is France, export sales are made without VAT. However, Aliexpress pays VAT to the French state at the departure from China. This must pose a management problem for them that may be resolved one day because the VAT is different.

Hello,

Not to my knowledge, no: there is no exemption from VAT in Guadeloupe except for exceptions voted by the General Council, but there is a specific rate (8.5% for the normal rate) to which a specific tax (octroi de mer) must be added for professionals who engage in production activities there.

The "new" European legislation taxes imports from outside the EU from the first euro, but this does not necessarily mean, according to the seller's choice, that this tax is included in the purchase deed; when this is not the case, it is the recipient's responsibility and is collected by the delivery service along with any applicable customs duties and broker fees.

Hi Brucine,

Yes, absolutely.. but since AliExpress now displays all its prices for France including continental VAT, I doubt they will make an exception for displaying prices excluding tax for Guadeloupe..
But maybe we should order from AliExpress US or another site to get prices excluding tax....

Maybe, but this doesn't help our friend at all :-)

Hello,

Assuming it's a good idea to buy anything from AliExpress, it is a platform of sellers, each of whom decides where they are willing to deliver (similar situations exist on European sites for certain types of products destined for the overseas territories, Corsica, or sometimes even the Breton islands).

I imagine they do not publish the reasons, which may indeed relate to specific VAT issues they do not want to deal with, or perhaps the higher delivery costs they do not want or cannot pass on to the buyer, or logistical transfer sites...

The "clever ones" use a forwarding service from an address in mainland France, of course for a fee; I do not know the details.

Hello
I don’t get the impression that this country is covered, which probably explains the problem.

Best regards

Yes, it exists and it seems to work very well.. I deliver to a client this way in Senegal. It takes a flight in the evening or the next day and arrives at a depot in Dakar where he just has to go pick up his package..

Hello,

There are options for overseas territories; see the (partial) list below. The wonema site lists prices in CFA francs for African countries in the area, an unusual payment method in our departments, even if they are overseas territories, where the euro is doing quite well.

Hello,

To be picky, the currency of a number of overseas communities in the Pacific is still the CFP franc.

This is notably a result of the Nouméa Accord, article 1.5, I quote:

Identifying symbols of the country, such as the name, flag, anthem, motto, and banknote designs, must be sought collectively to express Kanak identity and the shared future of all

Hello brucine,

You are not being picky but adding a clarification that I did not mention because it does not concern Guadeloupe. New Caledonia and other territories do not fall under the non-sovereign domains of the legislation applicable to the DOM and overseas regions (subtle distinctions related to the Assembly regime).

I have not checked whether the Pacific overseas territories are served by one or the other of the listed companies, but the contrary would be surprising, except for the currency and tax issues mentioned.

Hello

Oeco is a local inter-island organization in the Caribbean that deals with trade and transport, of which Guadeloupe is a part.

It is not impossible that for products coming mainly from China, delivery might be simpler or that other suppliers might be more interesting locally for certain products by going through Oeco America or Mexico, for example.
