Copy of photo does not keep the date

Hello,
I wanted to make a copy of the photos on my phone's micro SD onto my hard drive and/or put them on another micro SD card and I have a problem.
The creation date of the photo is no longer the date it was taken but today’s date; which leads to absurdities in the phone's photo gallery with all the photos mixed up...
I really don't know what to do except to process ALL the photos one by one to change the date o_O a colossal task over years of pictures...
If you have any ideas? Thank you so much in advance, I am freaking out

Hello,
To keep a photo's properties, you need to import it using the image gallery.
Otherwise, a copy and paste will always give the saving date on your disk.
Hello
If your entire dating system is linked to the file creation date, you should think so.
As jag72 said, importing the entire gallery would allow you to keep the old dates all at once.
Hello
The date the photo was taken is recorded in the EXIF data of the photo. So as long as the file is not modified (for example, by deleting the EXIF data), this date remains unchanged. There is no reason for it to be altered during a copy.
Since you used a computer as an intermediate storage, I recommend checking that the date the photo was taken is indeed present on one of the photos (among those originally on the micro-SD).
Right-click on the photo and then Properties > Details. Look for the line Date taken.
Note: The sorting of images in the Explorer depends on the folder you are in:
- In Documents, files are sorted by Modified on (which is often the file creation date)
- In Pictures, files are sorted by Date, which is actually the date the photo was taken!
So the sorting you see on the computer is not necessarily the one that will be used in the smartphone Gallery: photos are sorted there by dates of taking and this sorting cannot be changed.
If you cannot find this sorting by date on the smartphone, it means the file has been modified during the copy.
Try to determine when the error occurred: during the first copy to the computer disk or during the second copy to the new SD card.
What is well understood is clearly expressed,
And the words to say it come easily.

Hello,
I'm not sure that the creation and modification date attributes are not dependent on the appearance of these files on the new medium (the PC).
The EXIF data is not actually modified, but if in this case we want to retrieve a classification by shooting date, it is probably necessary to perform a batch process (for example with exiftools) that will automatically rename these files based on their EXIF date.
