Canon MG 3650 Printer and error code 5B02

Hello,
After spending hours searching for a solution online, I still can't get my printer to work.
I have this message "support code 5B02" popping up on my desktop, and I know that the ink absorber is full, however the software that everyone recommends "V3400" doesn't work for this type of printer (Error code 006).
I carefully followed the procedure:
1- press the "resume/cancel" button
2- while holding it, press the "Power" button
3- still holding the latter, release the "resume/cancel" button
4- press "resume/cancel" twice in a row
5- release the "Power" button. There is no green LED that lights up, but a small yellow-orange triangular warning light keeps flashing nonstop, never stopping
Do you have any idea or solution?

Hello.
Your version of Canon Service Tools is too old; search for Canon Service Tool V5204 or Canon Service Tool V5203 on Google.

A hello, a response, a thank you are always appreciated.
Hello,
You can try this version V1074 that you will find here:
https://www.infotrucs.fr/telecharger-canon-service-tool/
Of course, I think you need to put your printer in service mode. I hope it works…;))
Cheers,
Thank you very much for your answers.
When I try to put it in service mode, the LED stays like this (see the photo below) and service tools does not detect the printer.
Maybe I'm not doing it correctly....
Hello everyone ......
If you are sure you are using the correct utility, error 006 can stem from several reasons
The first one, which is not displayed below, is that the printer needs to be connected via USB, but it should be since it's quite old....
For the other reasons ► see the screen image below
I found this in case it helps you:
To unlock it, you first need to turn on the printer in "service" mode. To do this, press and hold the cancel/resume button (the triangle in a circle). While holding that button, press the "on/off" button. Once it turns on, release the "cancel/resume" button and press it 5 times.
Then, release everything and the printer should be in "service mode".
Connect the USB cable between the printer and the PC, and the computer should detect new hardware called "device".
Open the service tool software.
In the software, click "set" in the "Ink Absorber counter" section.
If an error message appears, you need to change "main" in the "absorber" section to "main_black" and click "set", then select "main_color" and click "set" (there is usually a separate counter for dual cartridge systems).
Restart the printer and your error 5B02 should be gone.
Hope this works for you...;)

Have you tried modifying this:
"If an error message appears, you need to change "main" in the "absorb" section to "main_black" and do "set" then select "main_color" and do "set" (there is usually a separate counter on dual cartridge systems)"

Ps: the printer must be connected via USB to the computer only after being put into service mode.
Thank you Macbernic for your solution.
Unfortunately, I have already tried and the code 006 appears every time.
What is not normal is that when I launch the service mode of the printer, the orange light gets stuck and I can’t do anything, except unplug it... When it should be blinking green at the power level.
Thank you so much Macbernic for all the help you’re giving me! :-)
Unfortunately, I've already tried all of that (almost 3 hours of testing), but I still end up with code 006 in the service tool, or it doesn’t detect the printer when the orange light stays on...
I think I might be skipping a step, but after a few hours of testing, I’m starting to wonder if it’s due to planned obsolescence....
For your information, I helped someone to do the same operation on a Canon printer model MG4250 ► Here
In my opinion, and I could be wrong, the V3400 tool should do the trick ► See this link which does not list your printer but similar models from the same generation... in the comments below, there is someone who supposedly solved their issue with this tool on a Canon MG3150, which is not on the list... which might "suggest," perhaps wrongly, that this list of compatible models may not be up to date, or that many printers have not been tested with the tool including yours???
I took the liberty of making you two videos:
One showing what happens when I turn on the printer normally and try to use the 3 versions of Service Tool (V1074 - ST V3400 - ST5103) with code 006 https://wetransfer.com/downloads/908242afce775a64fbbf4db8854a824820230303082831/6e41f1
And the other when I try to activate service mode and use Service Tools. https://wetransfer.com/downloads/8e89abca7360ca3c856cea1ae6aed41820230303083410/07e26c
I notice that there is no Windows sound when I connect the printer to the PC via USB.
Do you think I'm doing things wrong?
And do you think that installing all the Canon programs is necessary?
Hello ......
As mentioned earlier, it could be that error 006 is "triggered" by the printer due to a problem that has little to do with one of the 3 tools used since it keeps occurring with all 3 according to the first video ... as for the second one, you can't see much...
If you have followed the tool procedures exactly and the problem persists, personally I don't see many other solutions because it's impossible to do this remotely ... you need to be in front of the printer ....
For your information, the reset of the used ink counter has been done several times on multiple Canon printers ... it's true they are not the same model as yours, and it was done "successfully" .... this makes me think more about an issue related to the printer ...
Do you have a local artisan capable of doing this and for what fee?
On my side, I will continue to explore other options hoping to find a workaround... but ??
Best regards
See you
Re .....
While snooping around, I found yet another tool supposed to correct the error ... This tool is the V5103 (not V5203) available ► Here ► See at the bottom of the page before the comments ► Download Canon Service Tool V5103...... or ► Here
On this link, it is clearly stated that the V5103 is supposed to solve the problem as the printer is on the compatible list.

All these tools are a bit confusing as it’s somewhat complicated to know which one is the right one...
A+
Edit ► I just noticed in your video that you already used the V5103 tool (I thought it was the V5203)
It is not necessary to uninstall the programs related to this printer for its "rescue."
The fact that you don’t hear a sound when you plug in the USB cable has nothing to do with the tool... Unless the cable is faulty and sometimes that happens ► Are you sure that this cable is in good condition? Because it could indeed be the source of error 006... take all of this with a grain of salt... if the printer was working well before (if you have another cable on hand, it would be interesting to try it... without buying a new one just in case this one is in good condition....
Thank you very much Jmarion for taking the time to watch the two videos, even though it is true that not much can be seen in the second one.
I have the impression that this is planned obsolescence. I won’t hide it from you, this printer belongs to a client because I am a craftsman. I have to return it to her today.
When I plug in the USB cable, nothing happens, even after completely removing the printer drivers...
I forgot to mention something quite important; when I first tested the service tool at my client’s, the printer made a sound for several seconds as if the ink counter reset had worked, but the app no longer responded, despite waiting for 15 minutes....
Thank you very much. I will check to see if, with a bit of luck, I have a cable in one of my drawers.
However, I have the feeling that I am encountering the exact same issue as in this video (even though it’s not the same printer model).
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wu1xUkOxK_E&ab_channel=TRepairTech
It's a bit of a jungle with all these tools because there are so many on the "market" and knowing which one is the right one exactly... it's a bit of a lottery in my opinion....
It's a shame about the USB cable because if it had been the culprit, it would have been almost won!
Personally, I have no ammunition left because I've explored all the solutions I could, and now I'm left thinking that maybe I should donate this printer to the local dump... unless I am patient and start over by exploring even more avenues... but?
Good luck and see you later!
Regards
Too bad for the cord because if it had been the culprit, it would have been almost won ...
Personally, I'm out of ideas because I've explored all the leads I thought were interesting, but the fact is we're still at the same point ..... I'm afraid we'll have to donate this printer to a landfill .. unfortunately
See you+
Best regards
I'm going to give up. It seems to be due to an electronic board issue (as seen in the video)
Once again, thank you so much for all the time you dedicated to me. That's so kind!
Have a great day
Sorry, but personally I have no more solutions to propose... I could be wrong, but as mentioned before, it may be that the problem is hardware-related, as you think... and in that case, given the age of this printer, the best solution would be to replace it in my opinion.
No problem with the time spent... but I would have preferred a better result..!
Regards and A+ maybe
