Unable to start my PC with a new battery

Hello,
I have a strange problem with my Medion Akoya E6415 laptop.
I changed the battery because the old one was almost dead. My battery is now new and charges fine to 100%.
However, when I turn off my laptop and try to turn it back on while it's not plugged in, it won't start. I need to plug it in for a few seconds to get it to power up. After that, the laptop can run on battery for several hours. It's annoying when I'm on the go. I always need the charger to start the laptop.
Does anyone have a solution? I'm on Windows 10.
I tested it with a new original Medion battery and a new battery purchased from Subtel. The problem is the same.

Hello,

I suggest trying to discharge any static electricity that may have built up by performing the following steps:

  1. Disconnect the charger and the battery.
  2. Press the Power button for 30 seconds.
  3. Reconnect the charger and the battery.
  4. Turn on the computer.

Hoping this can resolve the issue.

Hello and thank you for the reply.

I had already tried this method, but it doesn't change anything.

When I turn off my PC (power button or start menu) and try to turn it back on without the charger within 30 minutes, it turns on. However, if it's off for longer (more than 30 minutes), it needs a 'boost' with the charger to start. (Even when the battery is at 100%) The computer is up to date. (BIOS, hardware...)

Hello everyone,

Maybe a problem with the BIOS battery!

Hello.

I thought about the BIOS battery, but it's not easy to access on this PC. I have to take everything apart.

Have you tried resetting the BIOS settings to "default" or original?

Check the date and time.

Already done :-( With my old battery (which barely lasts 1 hour), I don't have this problem.

Are there any anomalies in device management?

No anomaly in the manager and no hardware updates on DriversCloud.

Hello,

Do you have the links to these new, adaptable, and original batteries that you mentioned?

(and the reference of the old one, the model seems to be like A41-D15, A31-D15, A32-D15 or A42-D15, A41-E15.)

Knowing that the old one is fine, but not the two new ones, they may have a difference and may not fit.

For example, the first random result on the net seems to already mention two different model connectors, two different references > https://www.laptopbatterie.fr/medion-batterie/batterie-portable-medion-akoya-e6415.htm

A41-D15 as we see.

(and compatible model

A31-D15
A32-D15
A41-D15
A42-D15 )

.

You need to compare it with what would be written on the original one.

For example, if it was an A41-E15, your purchase is not correct.

I checked the reference, voltage, and amperage thoroughly before purchasing.

It is indeed an A41-D15.

This lead is therefore going down the drain.

Yet it was plausible.

If easily removable, with the computer turned off, you remove the battery, start on AC power and reinsert the battery to start the computer.

Done. When I turn on the PC right away without it being plugged in, no problem. However, 20/30 minutes later, still on battery, it doesn't start.

Good evening everyone,

Reflashing the BIOS; but it's risky without any guarantee...

I redid the BIOS. 10 minutes later, the PC turns on with the battery. I will wait longer. I'll keep you updated.

Same issue every time I try to start the PC after 30 minutes. Impossible on battery. I've exhausted all the solutions...

I don't think we need to reinstall Windows because the problem occurs before it starts.

To check, try booting from a live CD or USB, using only the battery...

It will be difficult to launch a live CD if the PC does not turn on with the battery.

I had bought 2 identical Medion PCs for office use. One that my daughter kept. I just tested my new battery on her PC. It works perfectly. When I try her original Medion battery on my side after 30 minutes of the PC being off, it only starts on AC power. (not on a fully charged battery....

Try to play around with the power options.

Especially the sleep mode; disable hybrid mode if it's activated to see.

.

At worst, revert to the old one and see if any setting differs from the new one.

(It would be surprising for it to change settings by itself, but then again, the situation is surprising...)

.

And the times set before shutting down components or sleep on battery operation might correspond to your 30 minutes and therefore give a clue/idea.

Hello,

The hybrid sleep was already disabled. Changing the battery doesn't change the power settings.

However, I have modified the sleep times (30 to 120 and 90 to 180).

I will test it, but the problem occurs before launching W10.

Hello. Same as always.

I have tried all your solutions except for restoring the PC and changing the BIOS battery.

Hello,
You can try with the battery at 60%.
100% could be interpreted as "overcharge" by the regulation.

After mariam-j's idea (message 34)

............

Summary :

1 > with the original battery it's ok to start without a charger

2 > new adaptable battery needs "the impulse" from the charger to start

3 > new original battery, same needs the charger to start.

.....................

It's plentiful, no logic ;-)

The base, the PC is always the same, if ok in case 1 it should be good in cases 2 and 3. One could say it's not from him.

It comes back (suspicion personal opinion) to incriminate these new batteries.

There is a lack of a "response" to the starting request. (the info doesn't pass)

Test /

> try connecting the power cord only to the PC (and not to the wall outlet)

> closely examine the connections of your new batteries and compare with the original one. Is there a contact missing or extra?
