Hello,

I'm having trouble tracing a circle on an image with Photoshop. The goal is to highlight a spot on a landscape. I would like the circle to be empty and to choose its color and thickness.

How can I do this?

    I still specified

    Ellipse selection tool,

you are not on the right tool

Press M and you will be on the selection tools bar and you choose the ellipse selection tool

    Hello,

    - Create a blank layer

    - Ellipse selection tool

    - Hold down the Shift key to create a perfect circle and drag to achieve the desired size of the circle

    - Edit menu --> Stroke

Set the thickness (e.g., 5 px), the color, center, and confirm

The circle is on a separate layer

Thank you very much for this information.

I created a layer, using the Ellipse tool, holding the Shift key and adjusting the size of the circle... all that is fine.

But in Edit, I can't select stroke of selection, it’s grayed out...

    Did I miss something?

    Hi again,

Are you on the created layer and is the selection visible as a dashed line?

There's no need to create a blank layer; it is created automatically when the ellipse tool is selected.

There's no need to try to use the edit menu; simply adjust the thickness slider to set the outline's thickness.

        Hello Roudoudou,

Except that I'm talking about the ellipse selection tool and not the ellipse tool.

Did you use the ellipse selection tool (tools at the top of the list press "M" shortcut) and not the ellipse tool press "U" for shortcut

In Trace, I selected Ellipse Shape, then held down Shift to make the circle to the desired size, it seems that it doesn't work afterwards (with the inability to select in Edit)...

    It works now!

I didn't know that you could change the selection tool with the M key, your info was clear from the start, it's just that I'm not comfortable with the program, as my username suggests.

I will go to bed a little less ignorant tonight :o)

Thank you very much for your explanations and your patience.

And there, the contributors/moderators are not shocked that someone is asking this kind of question about a paid (expensive) software...
