Thank you in advance.

    Hello,

    • What is the model of the wifi card?
    • Which driver are you using?
    • Do you have the same problem on Windows with this PC?

    Good luck

Do you have the same problem under Windows with this PC?
I bought this PC second-hand, I directly installed Elementary on it, there were issues with it, but not as many.

    Thank you

    Hello,

    I see several possible explanations:

    • either the driver poorly supports the card. According to this message, you need to use the brcmfmac driver. Can you check that it is indeed the one that appears when you run:
      lsmod
    • or the signal is weak (Wi-Fi box too far away and separated by walls), which you could check with another PC and/or with another operating system
    • or the hardware is defective (same)

    Good luck

The brcmfmac module is indeed present in this result, so it doesn't seem to be the source of the problem. What about the other two hypotheses? When you say you don't have the problem on your smartphone, does that mean the signal is being received from the same location as your PC with your smartphone?

Do you have a USB dongle that allows you to connect to Wi-Fi in a different way that we could test with?

Yes, in the same room, I get good WIFI on my smartphone.
I don't have a USB dongle, but I plan to buy one.

Well, let's wait and see how it works with the dongle. Before buying it, make sure it works well on Linux.

    Hello,

Unfortunately, the dongle does not work on Ubuntu. I removed Ubuntu and installed elementary OS. The connection works and the dongle does too, so I will stay on elementary. Thank you.

      Hello,

Elementary OS is based on Ubuntu 20.04... Same kernel 5.11, same modules.

I'm willing to bet that everything works just as well on Ubuntu 20.04.

Beware of Elementary 7.0 when it comes out as it will be based on Ubuntu 22.04.

So, does the connection with the original wifi card work better on Elementary? Should we consider the problem resolved?
