Hello,

After multiple searches, I haven't been able to solve my problem...

On my Huawei P30 phone, my photos are synced with Google Photos. I can no longer receive emails because my storage is full. When I delete photos on Google Photos, the photos also get deleted from my phone's gallery... furthermore, I would like my photos to be stored on the phone's memory and not on Google Cloud.

Thank you in advance for your solutions,

Hello,

1) It is important to understand that the Gallery is simply an image manager (not just photos) that are stored on the smartphone.

Photos are usually in a folder named DCIM, generally in a subdirectory called Camera.

Check this with your smartphone's file manager.

2) Normally when you delete a photo in Google Photos, it is not deleted from the smartphone. Google Photos acts as a backup. Therefore, the photos are just duplicated in Google Photos. If the photos have disappeared from the smartphone, there is certainly a malfunction (perhaps in the Gallery).

3) To stop syncing in Google Photos:

  • Open the Photos app (which should be in the group of Google icons)
  • Click on your avatar in the top right
  • Then click on Photos app settings
  • On the next screen, click on Backup
  • And finally, uncheck Backup on the last screen.

What is well understood clearly expresses itself,
And the words to say it come easily.

Hello, thank you for your very detailed response.

Unfortunately, I have already done the manipulation on my side, I unchecked the photo backup on Google Photos but when I want to delete the photos from that app it also deletes them from my gallery and I therefore cannot free up my Google cloud space.

You should take a look at what's happening in Google Photos from a computer.

I don't understand this issue of disappearing photos.

When I take a photo, it is saved in DCIM ==> Camera and simultaneously it is synced to Google Photos. Do the same thing and check on your computer that the photo is indeed in Google Photos.
Then delete it from the computer. Normally it should still be visible on the smartphone. There is no reason for it to have disappeared from DCIM ==> Camera.

If you have disabled sync, delete a few photos from Google Photos from the computer. They should still be on the smartphone.
