Accessing Safe Mode Asus

Hello, I just bought a refurbished Asus laptop. I was able to access Windows normally, I installed a software, the PC restarted, and now it is asking me for a password at startup with a name that is not mine. When I click on "forgot password", the associated email address is not mine...
So I am looking for safe mode to access the PC and change the password.
But when I press "esc" at startup, I access "Asus BIOS Utility EZ," and once inside, I don't know how to launch safe mode, please help me!!!!!

Hello,
Safe mode will not allow you to access the administrator account on your PC, which is necessary to perform many operations (installing software, changing settings, etc.). Furthermore, it does not launch from the BIOS, but rather through a function key at the beginning of the startup.
It corresponds to a startup without loading drivers and is mainly used to identify a faulty device.
In this case, you will not have any more ability to change the Windows password since you need to know the previous one.
Personally, I believe that unless you have a minimum level of knowledge, you should avoid starting to "tinker" with a PC that is supposed to function correctly upon delivery, in the hands of the buyer and not locked to the previous user's credentials.
The "forgotten password" that you are being asked for, associated with an email address, corresponds to the Microsoft account of the previous owner of this PC and you have no right to use it, even if the seller provided it to you, as that would be considered identity theft. You will need either to create your own on www.live.com (Microsoft account) or to install Windows with a local account, without opening a mail account.
This is proof, if needed, that it has not been properly refurbished, a procedure which requires, in addition to hardware configuration conforming to the announced specifications, the installation of a clean version of Windows with no trace of the previous user's access codes.
I would therefore return (if possible) to the seller to obtain the compliance of the equipment, otherwise you will not be able to use it.
Otherwise, you can wait for advice or guidance from another contributor.
Thank you very much georges97 for your very complete and especially relevant response because indeed if the passwords and personal information of the former owner haven't even been reset, it says a lot about the "refurbishment" of the PC...
I'm still going to wait for a response regarding how to open safe mode because now I’m really curious to know how to do it (I searched for 2 hours in vain).
Hello
Several methods with Windows 10 or 11

If F8 doesn't work, sometimes F5, F1, F6, Esc, or F3 might change depending on the model; these are keys provided by users.

Thank you for the feedback.
Below is a tutorial for accessing safe mode for Asus computers. In your case, it should be method #2, as method #1 (which I have never used) applies once Windows is launched and not at startup.
You need to press or press and keep tapping (if a single press didn't work) the F8 key on the top row as soon as the first image appears during startup. Most often, a line at the bottom of the screen will indicate when to do this.
