Hello,

My laptop suddenly shut down for no reason, during a video call for 4 hours, and the screen is black. To turn it back on I have to press a key on the keyboard (any key) and keep my finger pressed on that key... if I lift my finger it turns off again, Acer Aspire 3 laptop

Thanks for your help

    Hello,

I had the same problem on an "Acer Aspire" as well; after the keyboard was replaced, it happened again—sudden shutdown—pressing the Fn key, in my case. The repairer concluded the motherboard was faulty. I took the PC back and, by keeping the key pressed constantly, the PC still works, just to enter the BIOS. If needed, I have to unlock it and press it with one finger, then tab with the other hand! Not practical, but it's the only solution to keep using my PC!

      Thank you

So, how should I proceed knowing that I don’t know the key that is causing the problem

Try blocking the Fn key as well, we never use it, at least as far as I’m concerned. With a spatula, remove it, then put a small thin piece of cardboard underneath, then glue everything!

Great, it works, but it works with all the keys that I block

Would there be another key I can block that isn’t too useful, because the FN key (is used for sound), and since I do a lot of video conferencing
