Epson XP-4100 printer only prints in black.

Hello, I have an Epson XP-4100 printer and I often have issues with empty color cartridges even though I only print in black and white.

I found a solution that says I need to select the print in grayscale option, which I did. Then, it says to select the black ink cartridge only option, but I couldn't find that.

Can you help me with this?

Best regards.

Hello, the fact that I need to change the cartridges as soon as possible doesn't change my problem. I want to find the option for black and white cartridges only.

    Best regards

      Hello,

The link in <1> shows that this is impossible: you can only print "temporarily" by choosing the Grayscale option.

Color consumables are a source of revenue that allows manufacturers to recoup the "loss leaders" on printers; paradoxically, if you primarily print in black and white, it is more economical to use instead, or in addition to, a monochrome laser printer despite a slightly higher purchase price than entry-level inkjets but cheaper than the model mentioned (the toner for mine costs around €30 for 1200 pages, compared to 400 for Epson color cartridges).

Thank you for your responses. Well, for now I will urgently order some cartridges, I plan to invest in refilling my printer cartridges.

    Best regards
