Videos that won't play anymore
silversky -
Hello,
I have a problem with video playback.
These videos are on a hard drive and I have no issues playing them there, everything works perfectly.
However, I tried transferring all these files to another 1TB USB drive and that's where the problem arises. When the transfer is finished, some videos no longer play even though those on the hard drive work perfectly.
I was wondering if copying and pasting from the hard drive to the USB drive causes the files to lose some functionalities (but which ones and why?)
I also tried using "send to" instead of "copy and paste" and it worked for the first few files, but then nothing, the problem returned.
I don't know what to do anymore and I would really like to resolve this issue to back up these videos.
Would anyone have a solution to suggest, that would be really nice.
- Real Player is no longer downloading videos.
- The image doesn't work anymore but the sound does on my DVD player.
- honestech VHS to DVD 2.0 SE does not recognize my camcorder
- videos and movies that speed up by themselves
- stuck image with a red circle spinning around itself
- Video cell. not playing on my PC anymore. No issues before.

Hello,
You shouldn't save on a USB stick, especially one of such large capacity; statistically, it's not reliable...
It's better to use a real USB-3 drive.
The problem with these USB sticks is often the memory access times... which are too slow and also variable...
Or, you can use a copying software that verifies each copy after it's done... but that takes longer...

Hello, the first thing to check is if you have files larger than 4GB; format your flash drive to NTFS.

Hello, indeed, I have 3 files larger than 4 GB. Should I delete them so that the others can work? And, sorry, I'm relatively new to computers ;) but my USB drive seems to be in exFAT when I check its properties. So should I first format it to NTFS, and if so, how should I do that, and then reinstall all my videos without adding the large files over 4 GB? Thank you very much for your help.

Here is an example of the software "Teracopy" https://nicolasforcet.com/2019/09/26/logiciel-teracopy-copier-et-deplacer-des-fichiers-plus-efficacement-avec-controle-dintegrite-windows-mac/
which allows for copying with file verification
and also "Super Copier" https://www.clubic.com/telecharger-fiche11010-supercopier.html
-- as for the good suggestion by @glandu, formatting your drive to NTFS is a valid reason... so you reformat your drive to NTFS,
then, you copy all the Video files again... you still have them, I suppose.?
Otherwise, you need to create a folder on your computer's drive, copy all your files there first... format your drive... then transfer them back..
Here are the ideas.

After purchasing a USB drive of more than 4GB, you need to give it a name to recognize it on your computer and choose the format FAT or NTFS. I recommend choosing NTFS because it allows you to load files larger than 4GB.
Plug in the drive, go to "Computer," locate your drive by its brand name, select it, then right-click on it (left mouse button) and click "Format." In the window that appears, change "File System" to NTFS, in "Volume Label" (choose a nice name!!!) type the name, check the box for "Quick Format," and click "Start."
