Uninstall only certain Office 2021 programs

Hello,

I installed Office 2021 Pro yesterday and I expected to have the option during installation to select the programs I wanted, namely Word and Excel.

I saw too late that it was possible to customize the installation by tinkering with an XML file.

My question is: is it possible now that it’s installed and activated to uninstall only certain programs to keep only Word and Excel?

    Hello,

Here is the answer and it reinforces my opinion:

Paragraph 2. You must absolutely uninstall and reinstall the Office Suite 2021 while remembering to choose the applications you want. The hack… is to be avoided if you don’t want to end up with “a brick” instead of your PC.

    Thank you for your reply.

As I explained, during the installation of Office 2021 Professional Plus, Office did not give me the option to choose which programs to install.

To install only certain programs, there are many tutorials that use Microsoft Office Deployment Tool to create an XML file to tell the installer to skip certain programs.

Given the number of tutorials, I think I’m not the only one who can’t choose the installed programs.

Unfortunately I can’t find any information on how to uninstall only certain programs and not the entire suite.

I would prefer to uninstall only some programs rather than uninstalling everything and reinstalling...

No, you cannot, since it’s a Suite.

Applications aren’t sold at retail like they used to be, a few years ago (that doesn’t age me!).

        Hello,

I’m not sure if the coexistence of the different pieces in detail is the reason; in any case Office 2007 still allowed, in a custom installation, to check what you wanted to install or not.

I only have 2019, where I also only use Excel and Word: I’ve come to terms with it by removing the other startup program shortcuts, it’s useless but it increases readability; for the meticulous, you can gain (a little) disk space by deleting superfluous content: templates, Themes, Clip Art, Sounds...

Yes, I remember the old suite where I could choose the programs I wanted.

Microsoft has regressed again... maybe to force the sale of certain software that hardly sold and justify the exorbitant price of their licenses if you go directly through them...

I no longer use Microsoft Office. There are much cheaper alternatives that perform just as well. Outlook has also been removed from my PC. Thunderbird does the job just as well.
