Unable to change language in Office 2021

I have Office 2021, I want to change the language (to set it to French)

I have already changed the language to French for Windows 11 (following Microsoft's instructions: no problem)

I go to Word, open a new file, go to Options (at the bottom), language choice, Office display language: I set it to French (I also tried: the same as Microsoft 'French' by default)
In the language of creation and proofing in Office, I also set: French (France)

Then OK

I restarted Word

I even restarted the computer

Still no French for Word or Excel

Thank you for your help.

PS when I bought Office, I declared my Bouygues email at the installation, but when I left Bouygues, they deleted my email... and Microsoft requires the same email to do a reinstallation on the same computer...

Hello,

I'm not sure I understand the role of the Bouygues address; is Windows installed with a Microsoft account using this address instead of a local account?

In any case, the Microsoft account is used to activate Office, not to install it; nothing prevents access from the aforementioned address even if it's terminated as long as it isn't used to send an email and that it can still receive emails for up to 6 months from the date of termination?

In a more general context, if the purchased version of Office 2021 (which one?) is monolingual, for example, in English, we can tinker with it as we wish, but it won't change anything, and we would only be left with the option to purchase a new low-cost license online.

Otherwise, you need to install the appropriate language pack:

Thank you for your response.

Windows has been installed on my PC since I purchased it. It was then Windows 8 without using an email address.

Then it evolved into W10 and then W11 following Microsoft updates.

I don’t remember if during these updates I used the Bouygues address...

I left Bouygues more than a year ago.

My problem is to know if when I reinstall Office (which used the Bouygues address during installation since I installed it later) I will need to read a message from Microsoft to that address which no longer exists.

Because in that case, I lose my Office...

Thank you for your help before proceeding with the reinstallation.

Best regards,

Claude

Hello,

Office activation can be done either by phone or via direct link in any of the file-account applications if the status is not activated.

To my knowledge, it does not require an email address either for sending or receiving unless initially purchased online, where the address was used to receive the license key sent by the seller; in the latter case, it is often about "disposable" volume licenses, meaning they cannot be reinstalled.

In any case, adding a language when the version allows and according to the link in <1> does not require a new overall installation but only the installation of the language pack.
