How to digitize mini-disc (Sharp) content on PC

Hello,

I would like to send you a photo of my possible connections... Yes, there is USB but I don't know the differences. How can I connect my mini-disc?

Because on the mini-disc, there is obviously no USB port or anything like that. I can plug in headphones, but I don't think it's possible to connect an adapter for the sharp mini-disc.

Thank you for your responses.

Isabelle

Hello, if you have a PC with a DVD drive, you can use Windows Media Player to transfer your music.

Thank you for your response, but here’s the thing: I don’t have a DVD drive on my current laptop. I have one on my old Windows 7 PC, but I can’t get it to be recognized, and Media Player won’t open. In any case, when I connect the SHARP to the audio, I can hear the recorded music, but I can’t record it.

For now, at least. Neither Media Player nor the PC recognizes the connected device.

Thank you for your next response.

P.S. I thought about connecting a cable both ways since I only had one. But right now, I don’t have the equipment on hand. So, your reply can come next week.

Thank you so much!

Hello and thank you for this response. Yes, indeed, on my HP laptop, I can't connect my device, but fortunately, I kept the old Windows 7 desktop, where all the audio ports are available and also "media player."

Unless I can't connect anymore... but that's another problem.

Hello, I didn't explain myself well. I'm not advancing to guarantee the use of your USB reader or analog audio output if you have one on your old PC. But if you have a DVD player on that PC, there is a mixed slot for mini DVD and standard DVD.

Thank you for your response from August 30th. On this PC, you mention there is a slot for mini DVDs and standard DVDs. Are you referring to an input socket?

Where is it located, what does it look like? What kind of socket is it?

It happens that with my mini-disc, I can’t insert or connect a USB plug. There are only "In" and "Out" jack inputs.

See you soon! That's great.

Hello, all DVD players have a drawer designed to hold mini discs.

Hello,

Sorry mate, CD, DVD, or even Blu-ray players are absolutely incompatible with Mini Discs. Indeed, the latter are enclosed in a casing resembling a floppy disk. Therefore, it's impossible to insert the casing into a standard optical disc player. You actually need a Mini Disc player integrated into the PC to read a Mini Disc on a PC. This type of device only exists in the second-hand market now, and even then...

What you need to do is connect the Mini Disc player to the PC with cables or a special USB transfer cable.

Personally, I have a Mini Disc recorder MZ-R2 (purchased in 1994). If I want to connect it to my PC, I would use the headphone output of the player and the audio input of the PC (stereo Jack cable at both ends) and just check that the audio input is properly set on the PC. That's it.

Optical players can indeed read small-sized optical discs, but it has nothing to do with Mini Discs.

Hello, I have sometimes received 80 mm audio discs, mostly as gifts or for loading software or drivers. I still have an 80 mm slot on my PC Blu-ray player, which is not from the time of Jesus Christ.

That's all I know; they can still be found.
