Hello, I would like to know why I have a program named BackgroundTransferHost.exe running on my PC.

I read that it is a program that is useful when you have multiple devices. However, I only use this account on one device.

What is its main function?

Why does it activate and how can I disable it?

Thank you for your help.

Mika

    Hello,
    You need to go to Settings > Accounts > Sync your settings
    Then Turn off

      I still find it strange, could you perhaps help me:

      This program is for those who have multiple devices. However, on my Microsoft account, I only have one registered.

      Hence my question: What is this program for those who only use one device?

    Everything is disabled, but I feel like it reactivates after the PC update. Or restart.

      In this case; we're going to force things...
      Open the Windows registry Regedit

      Copy-Paste at the top>>> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TimeBrokerSvc

      Double-click on Start and set its value to 4 ;
      Click OK and restart

        PS: and if it's still there.
        You'll need to block BackgroundTransferHost.exe from the Firewall

        Ok Thanks

        I did that and I also blocked it with the Firewall.

        For my IT knowledge, what does the number 4 mean for Start?

        4 = Disabled
        3 = Manual
        2 = Automatic start
        --------------------------------------
        And in other values 0 = Off / 1 = On xD
        --------------------------------------

    Hello,

    The unnecessary sync services that I disable by setting the data 4 to the value Start with Regedit are

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDPSvc]

    (And its duplicates)

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDPUserSvc]

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\CDPUserSvc_XXXXX]

    And

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\OneSyncSvc]

    (And its duplicate)

    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\OneSyncSvc_XXXXX]
