AF NIKKOR Lens Compatibility with Digital Cameras

Hello,
I found a Nikon F-601 film camera with 4 AF NIKKOR lenses. Can I use them on a digital body, and if so, which one? Will I be able to use the automatic mode on the new camera, or will I have to do everything manually (I am a complete beginner)? Thank you in advance!

Hello,
Nikon has published a compatibility chart. Since your lenses are AF, it's the third column (AF lenses) that you should be interested in.

I believe that addresses your issue.

Hello,
It's quite complicated to give a correct answer to your question. You should tell us exactly which NIKKOR lens you have. Provide the complete reference like this.

We would also need the reference or references of the camera bodies.
But what I always recommend is to go to a camera shop with your lenses and see if your optics are compatible with a body. A shop can never refuse you trying them out.

Thank you very much for your response.
Regarding the lenses, here are the references that I find:
- AF NIKKOR 85mm 1:1.8
- AF NIKKOR 80-200mm / 1:4.5-5.6D / (infinity sign)-1.5m/5ft
- AF NIKKOR 35-70mm 1:3.3-4.5
- AF NIKKOR 20-80mm 1:3.3-5.6 G
I live in the countryside in a somewhat remote area, so unfortunately, there are no photo stores nearby to try them out...
Thank you anyway for your attention! Best regards,
Aurélie
Hello,
I would say that your lenses (I assume they are AF-S) are compatible with all 24x36 sensor Nikon cameras (except for hybrids).

A web search would have allowed you to find the same answers.
Thank you for your reply bimitrus, but it is indeed an AF objective as I mentioned in my message, not an AF-S.
As for the fact that a web search could have provided me with the same answers, the reason I come to this forum is precisely because I like to speak to real people who have skills and are willing to share them. Shouldn't I?
Best regards
