Hello everyone!

Since I reset my Samsung Galaxy 10 5G smartphone, I have been facing the following issue:

I can no longer post my own Google photos. Only a small selection of photos received on WhatsApp, which are not mine, is available to me.

How can I configure it so that I can post my photos?

Thank you so much for your attention and any help you can provide!

Best regards,

Brigitte

Good evening, Madmyke ????

Thank you so much for your well-argued response.

However - and that's very good - I haven't lost my photos. I'm just looking to find out how to connect Messenger with Google Photos.

I'm a 70-year-old lady, not really a geek, but trying to keep up with the times ????

Have a lovely evening!

Sincerely

I am only 9 years younger :p
So don't connect Messenger to Google Photos.
Messenger and Photos (the app, not the site) are technically two different things; it's your phone's system that allows access from one to the other, as with other apps, but there is no "connection." So, one cannot be established.

By default, Messenger does not allow direct access because it is linked to the "Gallery," an Android app.
Here’s how to proceed:

- In Messenger, click on the image icon on the left.
- This opens the Samsung Gallery app.
- At the top, you see the title Gallery with a downward arrow.
- Click on the arrow, and you will see the image sorting, and at the very bottom, the Google Photos app.

Hello

Photos on an Android smartphone are either under "Gallery" or under Google Photos, or both, depending on what has been configured.
When you reset a phone, you erase ALL the content. So it is normal not to have anything on it.

If your photos were only in the "Gallery" app, the issue is that it only stores your photos ON the phone. In this case, unless you backed them up elsewhere, your content is permanently lost.

If there was also synchronization with Google Photos, you should be able to check that by going to your account via a browser, Google account, then sign in and => Photos. (From, for example, a computer or even another phone).
If you find something there, it will be possible to recover it by configuring the Google Photos app.

Moreover, it is strongly recommended for the "average" user to enable this synchronization, as it prevents issues in the event of a failure or even theft.

Best regards
