Burning smell in the power port (computer)

Hello,
I have an HP laptop that refuses to charge. The computer is about 3 and a half years old and I’ve never had a problem until now. When I plug in the charger, there’s a strange noise (a bit of an electrical sound) and the light on the computer that’s supposed to turn on when I plug in the charger doesn’t light up. There’s a smell of burnt plastic accompanying it all.
Has anyone experienced this problem before? Is it a problem that can be fixed? If so, is it more cost-effective to try to repair my laptop or to buy a new one?
Thank you

Good day,
In my opinion, the best solution is to take your equipment to a repair shop so that they can perform a diagnosis.
These diagnostics are generally quite expensive (between €50 and €150 depending on the store) but it will allow you to find out if the repair is really worthwhile (each issue, even if they may seem similar, is different).
Best regards

Hello,
we should proceed by elimination.
Since HP computers are quite common, do you have someone in your circle who can either lend you a functional charger so you can test yours and vice versa, test your charger on their computer? Keep in mind that the chargers must have the same electrical characteristics (voltage and current).
If the charger is defective, then you need to buy a new one.
If the charger is okay, then it’s the computer:
Most of the time, the power connector of the computer is soldered to the motherboard, so you should plan on replacing the motherboard (for a handyman, it’s not too expensive, and it takes some time).
What is the (exact) model of your computer?

Thank you for your response! I tested with 2 different chargers and the result is the same: buzzing and burned plastic smell every time. I think the problem is with the laptop. Could it be a motherboard issue? How much would it cost to replace it approximately? (Maybe it would be more cost-effective to buy a new laptop...)
My laptop is a HP Model 14-cm0004nf

I can't find spare parts (motherboard) for this computer.
But it was at Fnac for €500, assuming the motherboard is €100/200 and the replacement labor is at least €150 (that's work time), and I'm not factoring in the reinstallation and configuration, I would have questions.
But first, it needs to be opened to see if a solder joint has come loose, or if an element has really burned out.
