Hello everyone,
I think this is a topic that comes up frequently, but I can't find a solution to my problem..
I am a trainer on several software programs like Rhinoceros 3D, Lumion, and more recently the Adobe suite.
My problem is as follows: when I launch Photoshop, my PC almost instantly freezes.
The same observation with Adobe Dimension…
The only solution is to manually turn off my PC, which I’m not really thrilled about.
I should mention that I have an Adobe license, so my software is not cracked.
I have updated the drivers for my graphics cards, but nothing changes: 9 times out of 10, Windows 10 crashes.
When it doesn’t crash, Photoshop runs without any issues.. Frustrating!!
I run quite a few resource-intensive software (Lumion / Keyshot / Zbrush) and even games without any problem (Call of / Fortnite..) on my Asus TUF 705D, so I think it’s not a hardware issue.
Maybe I’m wrong!
The next step will be to go to a professional if I can’t find the solution, so I’m relying on you!
Thanks to those who take the time to read and help me!
Have a great day everyone!

Check the available virtual memory and how it is configured.
Adobe software makes heavy use of it, to the point that it is recommended to have an external working drive to avoid overloading the main drive.
If your other software does the same, it is possible that this could cause issues.-
Hello @contrariness,
Thank you for your help, indeed it would seem rather logical..
How do I allocate more memory to Photoshop? System/Advanced settings/Performance/Advanced?
Do you know how much I can allow without messing things up elsewhere?
Would it make sense to install the software on an external hard drive in your opinion? -
Hi
???
How much RAM is in the PC and what percentage is allocated to Photoshop memory
(Edit == Preferences == Performance)
In the same section, which graphics processor is selected and what are the advanced settings?
As for the external drive, it should be allocated as the scratch disk, not to install software on
(Edit == Preferences == Scratch Disks) -
Hello @kaumune, thanks for your help!
16GB of RAM on my PC.
I’m forcing Photoshop to run on my Nvidia GTX1650, I thought the problem was coming from there in the first place.
If I understand correctly, I need to launch Photoshop to adjust the memory allocation percentage for the software?
Let’s hope it works quickly..!!! -
No, I haven't reset the preferences because I uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop and even Creative Cloud yesterday.
It won't do any good because the preferences are not deleted.
It's very surprising that someone who is supposed to train people on Photoshop knows so little about its operation.
Resetting the prefs is the basics, as well as answering the questions asked to help you.
Good luck ... -

Hi, I experienced the same thing with a photo software (Darktable or DXO, I can’t remember)... So not the same brand, but probably powerful.
It wasn’t immediate, but it suddenly and quickly crashed the whole computer.
Yet, I have two hard drives (one for applications, the other for data).
I never understood why. I gave up on the software (probably a mistake).
So, if there’s an explanation, I’m all ears :) -
And among the things that also consume RAM memory are the shared memory video cards...
