Hello,
How do I choose the installation location for Adobe Acrobat Reader?
I want to run it on a Windows 11 PC, using the link https://get.adobe.com/fr/reader/otherversions/
During the download, Adobe does not present any options and installs the software directly into the standard folder.
Thank you for your help
Configuration: Windows 11 Pro / Firefox 98.0

Hello,
You really have to love Acrobat Reader, which I don't see what it brings compared to other PDF readers, which is 10 times heavier, takes 10 years to download from Adobe even with fiber, and indeed does not allow for customization of the installation.
We can bypass the situation as follows, by moving it once it's installed:

Hello Brucine
Thank you for your response.
After reading it, I still feel a bit unsatisfied...
Apparently you are using other solutions.
Could you tell me what you are proposing? Because I do indeed find this quite cumbersome, but like many, I am opting for the "standard" solution.
Thank you for your advice and help.

Good evening,
I only read PDFs or create them by scanning or virtual printing, and when I need to make modifications, which is pretty rare, Acrobat Reader is, in any case, a basic tool, and I prefer a complete editor (also, there are alternatives to Adobe, such as PDF Xchange editor).
So, just for reading PDFs (besides the browsers that do it, which I don't like), the lightest is, in my opinion, the best: I use SumatraPDF, which, once installed, weighs less than 20 MB compared to several hundred for Acrobat Reader and consumes significantly fewer resources.

Brucine hello,
Thank you for your suggestions and help.
I will look for one that at least allows us to add a manual signature.
The ideal would also be to be able to combine and split several PDFs together, but that might be too much to ask for a single tool...
Best regards
Have a nice day
PS I don't know how to mark it as Resolved. Sorry

Hello,
Let's remember that the "signature" outside the dedicated (and costly) electronic signature has no legal value, but that's not the point.
Also, nothing prevents one from signing on a piece of paper, scanning it, and permanently saving the image file, which can be inserted when needed, for example, into a Word document that we will convert to PDF virtually.
This virtual printer function also allows splitting a PDF: you just need to do a virtual print of the chosen pages in a PDF under a new name.
Apart from Acrobat Reader, for merging, you either have to do it online (there are multiple sites, some like PDFMerge only do that), or be less stingy about disk space and resources and opt for a compromise: Sumatra doesn't do the job, but Foxit Reader does (including signing) or PDF Creator if you want to also combine the creation of PDFs ab nihilo.
For Foxit, we will fall back into some of the same troubles as with Acrobat Reader: tendency to constantly phone home if not censored, 181 MB installer for 607 MB installed raw, and 537 MB after removing excess language files but without touching the various scripts and addons that, like in Acrobat Reader, mess up our lives without serving the ordinary user.
