Hello,
I have a mid-2010 iMac running macOS Sierra (it's pretty old!). It works perfectly - as long as I can turn it on: if there's a power outage, it shuts down since it doesn't have a battery, but it rarely turns back on. (or very infrequently.) The power cable works fine, as does the screen.
It's the power button that is stuck.
I've tried all methods: short press, long press, multiple presses, unplugging/replugging, removing potential static electricity, disconnecting devices connected to the iMac, and even all of these methods at once; nothing works.
The last time I had to start it up, it took a few days and some luck. Most of the time, I leave it on or in sleep mode, and I occasionally restart it (which works very well).
There was a power outage for a few seconds yesterday. So here I am, desperate (I have important things to do on it), searching in vain for a solution.
Thank you in advance for your help,
Veyten

Hello,
If, according to likelihood, the problem is due to a failure of the power button, I see no other solutions than:
- entrusting this Mac to an Apple authorized service center.
Or
- opening the Mac yourself to access the button from the inside and see "what can be done"
But above all, in the meantime, and in case this Mac has restarted in the meantime, go to "System Preferences", under "Energy Saver", and check this box:

- Have a good day, good evening.. ;-)
