NVMe SSD on MSI B350 PC Mate motherboard

Hello,

I would like to install an NVME SSD on my MSI B350 PC MATE motherboard, but I didn't see the mention "NVME" in the documentation, so I wanted to make sure whether it is possible or not before ordering an NVME SSD.

In case NVME is indeed not supported by my motherboard, would you advise me to install it in M.2 or SATA?

    Hello.
    Here is the list of compatible internal SSDs for your motherboard https://www.crucial.fr/compatible-upgrade-for/msi-(micro-star)/b350-pc-mate
    Of course, you can choose another brand of SSD but with the same specifications; M2s are faster.

    According to the information on LDLC, the M.2 port is compatible with both NVMe and SATA. So you can install M.2 SSDs that are either NVMe or SATA;

    Hello to both of you and thank you for your responses!

    Referring to Bazfile's comment, I can only install SATA and M.2.
    However, your comment Epango seems to provide me with one more possibility, namely NVMe.

    I admit I'm a bit unclear :/ That being said, if you both agree that NVMe is indeed compatible, we might as well go straight for NVMe, right?

    You saw the link I sent you, it says "1 X M.2 - PCI-E 3.0 4x + SATA 6 Gb/s". PCI-E 3.0 4x is equivalent to NVMe.

    It is even written in large on the MSI site:

    Turbo M.2 Connectors
    Supports NVMe, up to 32 Gb/s in PCI-Express Gen3 x4    .
