Hello everyone,

I need your help to understand why my TV no longer recognizes my desktop.

Let me explain: I received a new PC tower. Since I don't have a computer monitor directly, I connected it via HDMI to my TV to install Windows and get a first glimpse of my machine.

Everything was going well until the moment when "poof": suddenly no signal. Then my TV couldn't detect my desktop anymore, I unplugged it, plugged it back in, restarted but nothing works.

Can you tell me where the problem might come from and how I can fix it? Knowing that I only have my desktop but without a monitor, I can't do anything.

Thank you for your help.

Hello everyone,
You should know that the resolution of a TV screen is much lower than that of a PC. The best quality of a TV (excluding HD, 4K, etc.), even very high-end, will always be lower than a PC screen, including low-end ones.
Isn't that the problem?
When installing Windows, it uses a display of 800x600 and then switches to a higher resolution.

It's on another post that there is a resolution question... here, the screen doesn't work, it's different.

Good evening,

Everything is going well.. at what level..?? I suppose it's about the installation of Windows..?? and that the BIOS display is working fine..??

-- The problem with TVs is that they impose display formats suitable for television... so in your Windows installation, you need to set a Windows display that matches your TV's capabilities... so read the manuals...

When I get a PC screen, I will test it, but it has already happened to me with my laptop, which no longer recognizes screens via HDMI, and I had to reinstall the graphics driver from the device manager.

The problem is that nothing is displaying anymore, so I can't do anything, as if only the tower is on, and without a screen, well, it's nice but a bit useless.

You're telling your misery... but it doesn't answer the questions asked... Look closely at each question mark... It's a question.

-- We can't guess anything, we don't even have the PC brand..?? Might as well consult a wizard..

-- Every PC should at least display the BIOS, even without Windows... Especially without Windows

This PC has never worked like this with you, and on top of that, you want to install exotic products

You’d better take each point one by one starting with the most basic ones and not move on to the next topic until the previous one is working...

Installing Windows is pointless if the screen doesn't work... You must first make a screen work. from the BIOS menus...

The problem is that it's a custom-built PC and the BIOS doesn't display because the monitor is not recognized; I don't know why.

Not possible since everything was working during the Windows installation.

How long ago was that..?

You say: "why doesn't my TV recognize my tower anymore." Does that mean that some time ago this TV recognized your PC..?

-- What happened in between..?? Maybe it's the PC that doesn't recognize the TV..??

-- Windows hasn't changed..?? same version..??

-- Is the HDMI cable direct and in one piece..?? Is it indeed an HDMI port on the PC and on the TV..?

You still haven't given the brand ++ the model of the computer and also of the TV..?

The TV is an LG, yes it recognized my tower for a while,
Nothing extraordinary happened, I suppose it's my tower that no longer recognizes the TV, the model of the PC is a PC for which I chose the components and I don't have them in mind right now

It was the first startup so I was on the blue screens to set up Windows in French, etc.

Yes, it's via an HDMI cable directly.

I connected the tower to a computer screen and it works, so I don't know where the problem came from.
Thank you for your responses anyway.
