good evening
I have a problem with W10
in my documents/folders X/Excel files,
all these files have become read-only.
So I checked the folders and it turns out that my "documents" is read-only.
Without knowing why...
I uncheck it and restart the computer and it goes back to "read-only"
How can I fix this?
Thank you

Hello,
It's just normal for everything to be marked as read-only, who knows why...
Disable UAC if you're having major issues

Hello
You need to change the permissions of the Documents folder by right-clicking, Properties, Security, and checking that your Name (session) is at the top of the list with Full Control enabled...
Otherwise, click Modify, Add, Advanced..., Search, find your name, then OK and OK, check Full Control and Apply...
Please indicate here if any error appears.
Cheers
If the answer helped you, a little thank you is really nice...
Is it resolved? The green button at the top is good!
Let he who has never opened a user manual throw the first mouse ;-)

Hello Macintosh
Thank you for addressing your issue.
I did what you told me.
At first glance, everything seems fine, the session name is correctly found, no error messages....
When I go to the folder properties, read-only is unchecked (not just a little tick).
I click on it to remove it, applied, ok
This folder contains files.
If I right-click on an Excel file, any file, the read-only is not checked.
However, when I open this file, its name at the top is followed by read-only.
So I can't make any modifications.
If I try to save, it tells me that it is read-only and that I need to save a copy, which I do, but this copy is saved as read-only...

Hello
What happens if you create a new file and save it, close it, and then open it again?
This issue is generally observed with documents downloaded from the Internet, as they are stored in temporary folders... There shouldn't be this issue with your documents.
Have you tried right-clicking on the Excel shortcut and then running it as an Administrator?
If that works, you should try performing a repair of Office in Settings, Applications, click on Office, Modify, then Repair (the same goes for the Control Panel, Uninstall a Program, ...).
Cheers

Hello Macintosh
I will try to respond as best as I can.
If I create a new file, save as......
when I open it, it is read-only.
As for the files, these are not temporary internet files, they are Excel files created for years, which are opened very regularly and where modifications are made.
For the past two days, we can no longer make any modifications.
If I run as "run as admin", it's the same when I want to reopen the file, it is in Excel.
I don't know why, but this problem has been happening for two days on all Excel files.
And for this
Have you also tried Save As..., Click on Tools in Save As, then General Options uncheck Read-only recommended if it is active, and complete the document save.
I don't have that option...

I tried to repair Office and the problem was still the same.
So I went to a computer store to gather information.
The guy told me that he was seeing more and more problems with Word and Excel on older versions.
He couldn’t say whether it was intentional or not due to the updates.
And when I asked him how to solve this issue, his answer was simple: don’t bother, install LibreOffice....
Since then, everything has been working fine.
Thanks for the help.

Hello
If you've resolved your issue, that's great.
However, please note that Excel files with macros will not work as is on LibreOffice.
For everything else, no problem.
See you!
