Hello!
I want to replace my hard drive with an SSD. I have connected this one in order to clone it via a USB 3 adapter. It appears in the disk management as disk 1, unallocated, with a black bar indicating its capacity.
The current disk, 0, appears as healthy in all status sections.
When I right-click, an assistant pops up that only offers me the active option "new simple volume".
When I launch the assistant, whose steps are already pre-selected (size, name, NTFS), nothing happens, and a box opens after one or two minutes, with the following message "virtual disk manager. The semaphore timeout period has expired. OK". No error code is indicated.
I thank anyone who could shed some light on the nature of the problem, and could advise me on how to resolve it.
Best regards.
Alain

Hello.
Instead of going through disk management, use Easeus Partition Master Free. If that doesn't work, try another USB/SATA adapter.

Thank you very much! I finally managed to do it, not without difficulty, but by using AOMEI, recommended by Samsung, which is the brand of my SSD, on which my current hard drive seems to be cloned. All that's left is to make the substitution... We'll see how it goes.
Have a great end of the day!
