No sound on my PC after changing the GPU.

Hello, my graphics card recently failed, forcing me to replace it with a new one. This graphics card is connected via DVI to VGA, so it's normal that I don't have any sound. I researched online and got a 3.5mm jack cable to connect my motherboard to my monitor to get sound from it. But it's still not working, and I'm out of ideas. Does anyone have a suggestion?

Motherboard: MSI H310 Pro M2 Plus
Monitor: Acer KG241

Thank you.

    Hello,
    VGA to DVI instead, right?
From what I find, the screen doesn't have a VGA

On the PC side, is the jack connected to the green port at the back?

On the screen, there seems to be a jack input and a jack output, it should definitely be connected to the input.

I do have a VGA port on my screen, my graphics card has a DVI port and with an adapter I'm connecting my screen via VGA, the jack is properly connected at the back of the PC and at the screen it's correctly plugged into the input.

Good evening, have you thought about checking the audio peripherals?

Yep, go to settings > system > sound and choose the speakers as the primary audio output

otherwise, right after in "manage audio devices" you can test each connected output to see if it works

I only have one device, and it's the one related to my driver.

Displayed where? If you have HDMI and DisplayPort ports even without screens connected to them, they are supposed to appear in this panel:

      Ok,

Have you checked the options of the screen in question?

Yes, I checked the options on my screen and I have nothing about that.

Normally, on a monitor with built-in speakers, you adjust the volume level using the screen's interface.

One strange thing, you say you connected your screen via VGA, but online your screen only offers DVI, HDMI, and DisplayPort.

      I don't get it.

That's what I find strange too.

The speaker, it's the one, it's the audio output of the tower via the jacks; I would say to already test it with a speaker or headphones to see if it works.

The volume has indeed increased at the level of the screen, and I just checked the user manual found online that I have 2 HDMI and one VGA on my screen (there must surely be several versions of this model).

If there is already no sound coming from the PC's jack, there's no point in looking elsewhere; you must first get sound to come out of the jack.

So, are you properly connected to the green jack at the back or the headphone jack at the front?

Are you missing any drivers (check in the device manager)?

On the DVI to VGA adapter, do you not have a jack connector on it?

I am properly connected to the green jack at the back, the audio driver I have is Realtek, and I do not have a jack connector on the adapter.

Well... it's supposed to work then, unless there is an audio driver problem.

In Device Manager, uninstall the audio devices + check the uninstall driver box if it appears, then restart the PC.

Nothing to do, it still doesn't work and my driver comes back after a restart.

Yes, it's normal, Windows reinstalls it, that was the goal. No news on the sound coming from the PC?

        Try installing this driver: https://download.msi.com/dvr_exe/mb/realtek_audio_R.zip

After installing this driver, if there's still no news, check if you have a Realtek software that installed, either on the desktop or in the start menu.

Do you have a jack port at the front of the computer? If so, is there no sound from that either?

I tried everything you told me, but it still doesn't work; I can't figure out where the problem is coming from, it should normally work.

Try it on Linux using a LiveUSB to see if there is sound.

If there is still no sound, there is a high probability that it is a hardware issue, such as a potentially faulty cable or connection.
