Hello, I have an old audio cassette player from an old home HIFI system and I want to listen to my old audio cassettes on my PC. Before, with my old XP PC, there was no problem, but now I can't hear anything. I connected the outputs (out) of my cassette player to the line in (green jack) of my PC, but nothing. With Windows 10, do I need a special program or do I have to modify certain Windows settings? I've already searched a lot without result. Can someone help me? Thanks in advance.

    Hello,

In the settings panel, sound tab, output, manage audio devices (written in blue), stereo mix: try to enable or disable it!

Hello and thank you already. When I click on audio device, I don't have stereo mix, but speaker and line in input device. I have enabled and disabled, but nothing happens.

Yes, but the green jack is usually an audio output and not an input
However, the pink one is a microphone input that you can try to connect to
Control Panel -> Sound -> Recording -> Stereo Mix

Hello, thank you and Happy New Year 2022.
I checked the sound settings on my PC:
In OUTPUT, I only have Speakers (High Definition audio Device), and when I click on "Device properties": nothing happens.
In INPUT, I only have Line-In (High Definition audio Device), and when I click on "Device properties": nothing happens.
However, the VU meter seems to work when the cassette deck is running?
Furthermore, the output jack from my cassette deck is connected to the blue socket (not green) of my PC recognized as "Audio In (line in)" in the user manual. I also tried connecting this jack to the pink socket (microphone) of my PC, but nothing changes?
I will keep searching and trying. Thank you in advance for your help.

But you're welcome, and have you checked the control panel as already suggested? Since your PC has a line input (blue jack), you should be able to find and select it in the recording tab.

I checked the control panel, sound section, recording: the Line In box is checked with a green tick, so it must be OK?

Go to recording, stereo mixing enabled!

Since "stereo mixing" was not found in the sound window, I had to enable it by searching for a new sound card driver. Now it is activated in recording but still no sound? I'm losing hope.

Hello and happy new year above all.

I resumed my research and "fortunately" I found the solution to my problem. Follow me: go to

Settings > System Display, sound... > sound (left column) > Sound Output: Device Properties > Device Properties: Additional Device Properties (on the right in blue) > Window "Properties of: Speakers > Levels tab > Increase the "Line In" slider

And I can now listen to my old audio cassettes directly on my PC.
Thank you again for your research.
