Hello,
The back of my Nexus 7 tablet has become sticky.
Does anyone have a solution to fix this problem?
Thank you for your help

    Hello,

It depends on the type of coating.

On rubber, you can proceed gradually to test it, using the mildest products possible at first:
cotton or a slightly damp sponge (be careful not to get liquid in the device) + soap
or a drop of dish soap, rinse with a slightly damp sponge, then wipe with a lint-free cloth.

For the rubber on mice, I use cotton + hydroalcoholic gel (a current product), then a damp sponge with soap followed by wiping with a lint-free cloth.

Some use alcohol, but no acetone as it damages the surfaces.

It may also be wise to perform a test on a small area first.

      Hello,
Thank you for your advice, I will try some tests.
But do you have any idea for a long-term solution, as it seems to me that it's a degradation of the coating.
I had a similar problem with a monocular, a repair shop applied a product that solved the issue, but I didn't find out which product was used.

I have tested dishwashing liquid and hand sanitizer, both clean the surface, with the gel being more effective, but once rinsed and dry, the coating is still just as sticky.

      Hello,
      Here is where I am.
I started with a cleaning using hand sanitizer.
Then I applied olive oil, followed by wiping with a damp soapy sponge.
And finally, I dried the surface and applied talc.
It still sticks slightly, but almost not at all.
I will now try to contact ASUS.
      Thank you for your advice.

I read on a photography forum that this also happens with cameras; some use talcum powder as a preventive measure, then rubbing alcohol, or lighter fluid, or a very expensive German product. But this seems to be a degradation that is not necessarily due to usage. Even new devices that have sat unused for years also turned out to be sticky. It made me think of those rubber-coated pens, which I don't use very often but are all sticky.

I sent a request to ASUS support.
Actually, I need to correct that, it’s not the back of the tablet itself that is sticky, but the back of the case that came with the tablet.

    Hello.
How sticky is it, and especially why? Because the cleaning method will be different?
1/ Because of the dirt that has accumulated over time?
2/ Because of its coating that is deteriorating?

      Hello,
I think it's a deterioration of the coating.
