Hello, for about ten days now, the text display of my Google Chrome searches overlaps with the "images" proposed among the top results. Chrome is up to date, and I have tried restarting my laptop several times, but nothing works. The links are no longer clickable at that point, it has become unreadable.

Who has an idea please? Thank you, have a great day

Have you restarted your PC?
If not... Do it.

Point 5 --► Reset Chrome

If you do point 3 with AdwCleaner it is a browser extension or an outdated search engine.

FIND !!! It was the extension "All Pastry".
However, for point 2, I cannot change my default search engine which has the address {google:baseURL}search?q=%s&{google:RLZ}{google:originalQueryForSuggestion}{google:assistedQueryStats}{google:searchFieldtrialParameter}{google:iOSSearchLanguage}{google:prefetchSource}{google:searchClient}{google:sourceId}{google:contextualSearchVersion}ie={inputEncoding}

Your search engine is correct.
Adwcleaner would have removed it, but you found it manually, all the credit goes to you.

As for your extension ''All the Pastry'', you still need to find a similar one, as over time Google Chrome cleans up and considers some extensions obsolete.

If I were you, I would still try to reinstall it, I couldn't find it in the Web store.
Only if you have a good reason, maybe culinary, those famous little recipes :-)

Thank you, I will mark it as resolved, but I cannot access the URL of my default search engine, it is grayed out. And I can't add a new one and choose it as default either... thank you anyway. The pastry extension is not a big deal. Have a great day :)

It's normal, you need to click on Edit to avoid seeing the "grayed out" line.

If one day you want to restore it or if it's not in the list, use the manual method.

Hello,

On which operating system is Google Chrome installed?
Windows 7, Windows 10......?

I have the opposite of your screenshot
Search engine --►Google.com (you have --►Google)
Keyword --►google (you have --►google.com)

So try to add a search engine (Google.com):

(make a copy/paste of the lines in bold).
Search engine --►Google.com
Keyword --►google
URL with %s instead of the query --► {google:baseURL}search?q=%s&{google:RLZ}{google:originalQueryForSuggestion}
Click on --►Save

Then refresh the page --►F5 (or with the right-click --►Refresh)

In the list of search engines, you will see 2 instances of Google or Google.com sometimes, it’s Google.fr

In the Other search engines list, you will see the one you just created.
Click on the small dots then --►Edit

You should see the query line to modify (URL with %s instead of the query)
The box is no longer greyed out, which allows if one wishes to modify the query.

If everything is correct click again on the small dots and click on --►Use by default

If you can’t do it, reset Google Chrome
==► Reset Google Chrome
As a precaution ==► Export Chrome bookmarks
In HTLM format (or in another browser) or even synchronization.

Restore default settings

You will start from a good base, from something new ....

Hello, I am on Windows 10. When I apply the method you just described to me, the logo of the newly installed engine is the gray world map, not the Google four-color logo; is that normal? In any case, I have the impression that the two URLs are strictly identical.

It was indeed the extension offered by the site "Once Upon a Time Pastry" that was causing my problem, unfortunate but not serious :)

I don't think it's the extension ''Once Upon a Time in Pastry''
The proof is that I installed it for 48 h 00 and I encounter no problems when searching with the Google search engine (Google.com).

I don't know if you have an ad blocker, but it seems that in your screenshot Google is suggesting redirections.

Add an ad blocker of your choice, avoid Adblock or Adblock Plus (they don't filter everything).
For example, install --► AdBlocker Ultimate or uBlock Origin
Or even AdGuard AdBlocker

Reinstall your extension ==► All the Pastry

Leave it there for 72 h 00 to check.
And keep running searches.

But resetting Google Chrome wouldn't hurt to start fresh.

Otherwise, go --► ResetBrowser
To clean up malicious programs
