MacOS Sierra: unable to upgrade to Mojave 10.14

Hello,
I'm using a 2016 MacBook Pro Retina, macOS Sierra 10.12.6. I want to upgrade to Mojave (10.14) because I need it to load the latest version of Word (requires at least 10.14). I can't perform this upgrade. I check all criteria (free disk space, etc.). At the moment of opening the Apple Store it shows: "this copy of the macOS Mojave Installer application is damaged and cannot be used to install macOS". I tried downloading the .dmg file directly on my computer, and when opening it I get an alert: "this update requires macOS 10.14"... which doesn't make sense since I want to go from 10.12.6 to 10.14.
If you have any ideas, I’m open to them!
I should add that when I try to do the software update directly by clicking the Apple menu > About This Mac > Software Update, it takes me to the App Store, and it says no compatible updates are available (and when I click on “see incompatible updates” it only shows updates for apps like Numbers, Pages, etc).
In short, I don’t understand (I’m far from an expert and I’m running out of geeky resources).
One more detail: this is a work computer I used to have, is it possible they still control the software updates (even though it’s a small company of 20 people, not a huge fleet, so I’d be surprised!).
If you have any ideas? Thanks in advance :)

Hello,
This message may appear if the Mac time is not correct, see this page:
https://www.journaldulapin.com/2018/04/23/date-terminal/
I should note that when I try to perform the software update directly by clicking the Apple menu > About This Mac > Software Update, it takes me to the App Store and indicates that no updates are available (and also, when I click on “see incompatible updates,” it only shows updates for apps like Numbers, Pages, etc.).
This is normal: the software updates offered in this situation concern apps installed or updating macOS itself.
For example, upgrading from macOS 10.12.1 to macOS 10.12.6, i.e., staying within Sierra, but updating it.
But upgrading from Sierra to High Sierra or newer is not considered an update, but a change of OS.
I therefore recommend checking that the Mac clock is correct, then following the instructions in this page to move to a higher OS, after re-downloading the desired version from scratch.
