Refurbished laptops, need your help

Hello,

I need to buy a laptop with a small budget (max €250) and that’s why I’m looking into refurbished options. I've spotted two HP laptops, but I honestly don’t know which one is better despite my extensive research. In terms of use, I essentially need a laptop for office tasks, browsing the internet, and remote work/study.

Here are the two laptops I've seen:

Can you tell me how they compare? Value for money? Features? Etc... Thank you very much!!!

    Hello.

Nilili should at least provide a baseline regarding the screen size. Some people have poor eyesight; there's no shame in that. However, if we offer a 12.5" screen, the characters will be very small, and the person may have difficulties using it.
15" or 15.3" PCs are generally the best sellers.

    See you later...

      Hello everyone!

I agree with jojolaguitare because small screens are annoying to use.
A friend had a small laptop like that and she hardly ever used it. When she got a 15-inch one, she jumped for joy...
Just a little story to give a real example...

Hello and thank you Aunt Elise . . . Afterwards, we can change the size of texts, applications, and other elements to 125%, but it becomes cumbersome.

Have a good day . . . See you later

Hello, I bought a 14" Lenovo laptop like this one:

    https://toullec-informatique.com/pc-portable-lenovo-thinkpad-l470/

I don't know if they sell online. It’s true that I was able to test it in-store before making my choice.

However, I was a bit apprehensive about the performance, but it turns out I'm really happy with it.

It’s even faster than a lot of new low-end laptops.

    If that helps.

    Amélie.

    Hi,
    I wouldn't recommend either:
    - the HP Elitebook 745 G2 has a completely outdated processor... (even though it has an SSD)
    - the HP ProBook 6460B has an old processor that might work, but... has an outdated electromechanical hard drive...

@ this price, THERE'S NOTHING GOOD, sorry.
You would need to spend 100-150 € more.

    BYE

    Hello everyone!

First of all, thank you for your equally informative responses and suggestions.

Indeed, I did not mention the screen size. A 14-inch would be ideal.

So if I understand correctly, I should look for laptops with an SSD and an i5 processor. Is that right?

OK, so I will resume my research and see what I find ☺️. I might bother you a bit more to ask for your opinions on some models. In any case, thank you very much!

I've searched so far, even for an I3, but I can't find anything within your budget...

And what if I go up to €300?? Lol

So, between Back Market and Trade Discount, which is better? In terms of warranty, they both offer the same and for the same duration as well. I still have the impression that Back Market is a bit more expensive?

Are there any other reliable online selling sites?

As for me, I have no idea, I don't know either of them. Maybe someone else could answer you.

Another reliable one, I don't know either, I rarely look into refurbished products.

    Alright, thank you ????

I'm leaning towards refurbished due to my budget... If there was something new, I wouldn't hesitate.

No worries . . . However, it's important to keep in mind that a very large number of refurbished PCs, both laptops and desktop towers, may not be able to upgrade to Windows 11 if Microsoft maintains its restrictive hardware requirements. But we can enjoy Windows 10 until 2025 (maybe!)
So apparently you do not require much from the PC, neither gaming nor graphics, in other words, basic needs. Therefore, it might be more interesting to consider a new one, which will undoubtedly be compatible with Windows 11. My daughter-in-law's mother just bought an Asus (I don't know the model) for €399 at Boulanger, and she is very satisfied with it.

No other ideas at the moment. More, however, for desktop PCs since I have bought several for myself and others. Of course, that has more to do with demand.

      See you soon . . .

What do you think, Jojo, of my proposal above?
      And at sign?

      Edit: 3 years warranty!

Re tata, for your choice I suppose you have to choose the size of the SSD or HDD and the keyboard at the time of purchase, and there is Microsoft Security Essentials installed, and also the choice between Windows 10 or Linux, not great all that, otherwise Jumulka's proposals on Trade Discount were very good

    Not bad @ . . . Dell is solid.

In case Ninili changes their mind . . . ==>

    https://www.laptopspirit.fr/288288/hp-14-dk1023nf-pc-portable-14-argent-pas-cher-fin-et-leger-avec-gros-stockage.html

    It's a basic PC but nonetheless has a 1 TB HDD - 8 GB RAM - USB 3.0 - USB-C (important) - AMD Athlon Silver 3050U processor

Processor compatibility with Windows 11 ==>

    https://www.ginjfo.com/actualites/logiciels/windows-11/windows-11-voici-la-liste-exacte-des-processeurs-intel-et-amd-pris-en-charge-20210703

Of course this PC is not high performance, however it will do its job. An SSD would have been better but then the price wouldn't have been the same.

Since I only offer new, it's better for me to stick to the topic.

    Best to you all . . .

Jojolaguitare is great, but it exceeds Ninili's budget, which is a maximum of 300 euros.

I know, Arobase, I know... but it's him who will see because in 4 years, an impressive number of PCs will be ready for the scrapheap. Personally, none of my 3 desktop PCs, plus my wife's laptop, will be compatible with Windows 11. So spending €250/300 on a PC that won't be able to be updated in a while is a bit frustrating. After that, we can look at the compatibility of the processor for each device offered, but that will take some time!

      See you later...

Hello Jojolaguitare, wow in 4 years end of Windows 10, I was planning to buy a new Windows 10 computer soon, I will wait for computers to be released with Windows 11, for now my old Asus Windows 7 is still doing the job, unless it gives up on me!

    Hello again,

I resumed my research based on your advice and I selected these three on Back Market. What do you think? Thank you very much
