Unable to install app from unknown sources

Hello,

I have a Huawei P20 HRY LX1, ANDROID Version 10.
I can't enable the option to install apps from unknown sources.
I've tried several tutorials and it doesn't work. However, I have succeeded in the past, and I haven't installed any new apps since. I'm quite frustrated because I feel like I don't have control over the software part of my device, and my user experience is greatly affected.
Do you have a solution to "force" Android to allow me to install third-party apps?

Hello,

Check the apps that have administrator rights on the device.

Go to Settings > Security & Privacy > Other Settings > Device Administrators.

From there, revoke administrator rights from any apps that might be blocking downloads from unknown sources.

Apps like Google Pay and Find My Device should not be responsible for blocking this option. Disable them as a last resort.

Hello,
First of all, thank you for your response.
I revoked the admin rights but it is still grayed out.
I also disabled Google Protect. Same problem... I'm losing hope.
I installed Aptoide, a program similar to Google Play, and I can't install any apps through this method.... :/ it's asking me to allow the installation from unknown sources and I can't.

To determine if the problem is caused by a third-party application that is not part of the system, we will start the phone in safe mode.

Safe mode or safe mode disables all the apps you have downloaded and only keeps those that are installed by the manufacturer active.

To start in safe mode, first completely turn off the phone.
  • Press the Power button to turn it on and hold it down.
  • When the Huawei logo appears, release the Power button and hold down the volume down button.
  • Once you have entered safe mode, release the button.

Now try to enable unknown sources. If it works, it means that an app you downloaded is responsible for the problem.

To exit safe mode, restart the phone.

What if we can't activate it even in safe mode? What should we do?

Hello,

Since Android 8, this option is no longer accessible via a single button: you need to allow the app with which you want to install unknown apps.

See here for example: https://forum-huawei.com/threads/autoriser-les-sources-inconnues-pour-installer-une-application-en-dehors-du-play-store.8456/

See you later
