PC screen turns off when connecting an external monitor

Who can help me?
I just bought a Philips 241V8L-00 monitor. When I connect it to my laptop, the laptop screen goes black, and the second screen displays no video input?
I am connecting both via HDMI.

    Hello
    Maybe a graphics card driver update. I've seen this case where plugging a CRT TV into a yellow RCA on the graphics card would crash the PC.
    I did an update and it worked.
