Hello,

I have a computer with an American Megatrends 2020 UEFI BIOS and I wanted to enable CSM to install Windows on an old disk. However, I can't find where to enable it. Thank you in advance for your responses.

Best regards,

    Hello

There are several levels of UEFI BIOS, and for a few years now, motherboards have been equipped with native UEFI (class 3), excluding CSM or legacy mode.
Even earlier versions (class 2) sometimes no longer managed CSM and required the presence of a dedicated chip for the function (CSM being the name of the chip, it has also become the name of the BIOS parameter). Cost reduction mandates the trend towards its disappearance.
What is the brand and model of the motherboard?

Thank you for your response, I don't know the model of the motherboard but I think the motherboard is a Thomson (because the brand of the PC is a THOMSON Neo 14). I can attach a photo of the Main page if needed.

    Good evening,

I doubt that Thomson makes its own motherboards, but that is not the point.

The options of a BIOS (AMI in this case) are not constant depending on the brand of that BIOS but depend on the graphical interface that the manufacturer has chosen to give it.

It may very well be, as previously mentioned, that there is no CSM option or that it goes by another name; see some examples here: https://www.malekal.com/options-bios-csm-secure-boot-ahci-uefi/.

Plan B, if this option does not exist, is to do the opposite, converting the disk from MBR to GPT.
Malekal, always him, describes a method to do so without data loss, but provided it is a system disk (in French, that it works on another machine):
    https://www.malekal.com/convertir-un-disque-mbr-en-gpt/

Always provided that you have access to this disk, some freeware (such as Easeus Partition Master and probably gparted on a Live CD Linux or embedded under Windows via GnuWin32) also gets the job done.
