Scanner App Issue (Microsoft Store): Scans only in black and white

Hello,

When I use the Microsoft Scanner app (from the Microsoft Store), the photo (in color) appears in black and white, both in the preview and once the document is scanned. No settings related to scanning in color or black and white are available in the app.

After browsing this forum (and Microsoft support), I changed the Scanning Profile to set the default scan to color
(Windows Settings\Devices\Printers and Scanners\Manage\Scanner Properties\Scanning Profile\Modify\Color Formats: Color)

When I launch a preview from the profile settings panel, the scan is indeed in color.

The same goes when I use the old "Fax and Scan" application: Color scan OK

The same goes when I go through Control Panel\Hardware and Sound\Devices and Printers\Start Scanning: Color scan OK

I think that the problem does not come from the printer or driver, but rather from the Microsoft Scanner app.
I tried resetting it, then uninstalling and reinstalling: still the same problem

It seems that the Scanner app uses its own scanning settings (profile), without taking into account the profiles defined in Windows, but since no settings are available in the app, I don't see how to resolve this.

Has anyone else encountered this problem and managed to fix it?

Maybe a change to be made in the registry editor?

Thanks in advance to everyone who replies!

Have a great day.

    Aren't you missing a setting?

"Select your scanner and choose the file type under which you want your scan to be saved (JPEG, PNG, PDF...).

Before proceeding, click on Show more (to the left) to choose between color or black and white, as well as the resolution and the location of its save"

      Hello Brucine,

I don't see where the setting you mentioned is.
When I open the Scanner application, in the sidebar, I only have:
      - Scanner
      - Source
      - File type
      - Resolution (dpi)
      - Save file to

No option to choose between black and white and color.

That's exactly the setting I'm missing, indeed. I don't understand why this "Color Mode" option doesn't appear for me.

All the others are there, except for this "Color Mode"

(unfortunately, I can't post a screenshot on the forum without being registered)

      It's really hard to understand...

I can certainly use other tools to work around the problem, but this tiny application seemed super simple, practical, and quick for launching a scan. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that a specific action will allow me to find this option in my version.

In any case, thank you so much for taking the time to search with me ;)

Ps: I don't have an "automatic" choice for the source. Only "Plateau" and "Chargeur". But I tried changing those settings and still no option to change the color mode

RePs: I'm using the default Windows theme and there doesn't seem to be any "invisible" option available (I clicked around a bit in the window to make sure I didn't miss anything)
