Hello everyone,

I have a Samsung J3 2017, and I need to free up space on my phone. I've noticed that all my used internal storage is in the "other" category.
Everything else has been moved to an SD card.
I've already cleared the cache of my apps.

And I can't find anything online that helps me understand what's in this category and especially how to reduce the space it takes up.

I hope you can help me.
Thank you :)

I did indeed forget to delete the duplicate files.
I just did it but they were on the SD card, they were photos and videos.
All my photos, videos, mp3 files, and applications (for those that can be moved) are already on my SD card.
That's why I don't see what could be in "other" and therefore I don't know what I could delete to free up space.

You have a native application like "Windows Explorer," check with it.
I use another application called File Commander which is much easier to handle.

I found part of what was in "other", these are the applications already present on the phone and/or necessary for the phone's operation.
We can't delete them but some have a significant cache that we can clear, as well as unnecessary data that we can delete too.
I was able to free up 3GB.
Thank you for helping me quickly :)

Good evening,

Having encountered the same problem with my phone, I think I have found the solution, but I'm not 100% sure. In the settings, when you type "Trash" in the search bar, you can see that the Trash keeps deleted files for 30 days for several applications (Messages, Contacts, Files, Gallery...). So, when you delete several photos and videos (which take up several GB), they are kept in the Trash for 30 days. I have a feeling (I'm not sure) that this is what increases the size of the "Other" file in Storage. If you have nothing to lose in the Trash, try unchecking the box "Keep deleted photos and videos for 30 days" in the Gallery app and monitor the evolution of the size of your "Other" file.

Have a nice evening. :)
