Popcorn Hour A-200 - internet connection issue

Hello,

I have a Popcorn Hour A200 on which I have stored all my DVDs (space saver). For each movie, the popcorn searches the internet for the description and the poster of the film.

However, for some time now, when I rip a DVD and copy it to the popcorn's hard drive (via my home's network), it can no longer access the internet to fetch the information related to the deposited file.
I tested the cable, there's internet. Same with the Wi-Fi connection, internet works. But the popcorn keeps asking me for internet access... I don’t understand!

Can someone help me with this issue?

Thank you in advance.
Laurent

Configuration: Windows / Chrome 89.0.4389.114

    Hi,
what network testing utilities are available on this device?
What operating system does it run, is there a command line interface?
Maybe the site where it gets its information is down or stopped?
    Do you know this site?

    Good evening,
    Thank you for your feedback.
So, I used Advanced IP Scanner to check that the Popcorn was properly mapped on the network. Knowing that the box is connected via a small hub which does provide internet to the other connected devices.
As for the operating system, I honestly have no idea. I know that the firmware is provided by Cloud Media / Syabas... if that helps!
The configuration makes it look for information on the Allociné site (IMDB before, prior to the update).
    Thanks in advance!

Honestly, it's a bit lacking at this level.
If the popcorn doesn't allow itself to test its internet connection, it's going to be complicated.
The names you mention for the OS don't help, at least not me.
See if Allocine hasn't cut certain features.

I am exactly in the same situation... While rummaging around, I learned that popcorn hour is no longer sold and that there are no more firmware updates, and apparently the site that provided information about each movie is down... So, it's no longer possible to update our movie database after installing them on the PCH... As a result, on the jukebox, every new movie will appear without its poster or summary... Great, right? Ugh, it's disappointing... I tried to ask if there could be a manual procedure to provide the necessary information for each movie, but I got no response... Did you find anything on your side?

      Hello,

I've been having the same problem for several weeks. I'm unable to download the covers and information for movies and series, and I also can't access YouTube or other apps on my PCH, which keeps asking me to connect to the internet even though I'm connected... What Celinette said confirms what I feared. The PCH is no longer being sold, and there’s no way to turn back. I think it should be possible to manually assign covers by retrieving them from the internet via a computer. But what a hassle... it’s truly pathetic that buyers like us have to be abandoned like this...

Yes, but does this manual method exist? If so, would there be someone to explain to us how to do it???

Yes, we can at least have the movie poster we are downloading: right-click on the poster of the relevant film, save the image, and then assign this image exactly the same title as the film.
Include the film and the image in the same folder.

And if anyone knows a way to display the movie synopsis, I'm also interested :)

    Hello,

currently facing the same issue as all of you.
It's what I was also afraid of...
So the only solution is indeed the manual method.
For my part, I use SQLite Database, basically it's a database software that can read the media.db file.
It's not very complicated, but you just have to be careful and understand how it works.

Well, it's software that will allow you to open the media.db file.
Then there are several tables, that's where it gets complicated...
In short, there are several tables, they are all linked.
The main table is "SHOWS", there you have columns.
ID corresponds to the "reference" of the movie, then there is the title for the title, etc...
You need to add a row and enter the information for the movie in question.

If you want to add the posters and backgrounds, it gets even more complicated because you need the photos in the right size and to make links with the movies.
Otherwise, you need to go to the "VIDEOS" table
Add a row, put the information (links), then go to the "SHOWS-VIDEOS" table and enter the corresponding IDs to make the links (SHOWS ID AND VIDEOS ID).

If you encounter any issues, feel free to reach out, we can contact each other via Messenger if needed.

Hello Frantz .... oh dear, it all seems so complicated to me :( ... in any case, way too complicated for me :(
But thank you nonetheless for taking the time to respond to me ...

If anyone else has simpler solutions, I would obviously be interested :)

download each file (link in blue) from the top of the page to the language file (included)
create a new folder and put the files in it.

    start the application

I just realized that I forgot to specify that I have a PCH A500 and A400... are they the same files to download?

Bonjour.
