Microsoft Teams on Windows 7 PC

Hi everyone,
I have a professional information meeting in 2 days via video conference.
The organization told me it would be on Microsoft Teams.

Not having a computer and a phone that glitches, I tried to install it on my son's Windows 7 PC that was given to him at school about 8/10 years ago. The problem is that it also glitches and lags, and especially that I can't install Microsoft Teams; it says "fail," so I don't know how to download it.

Do you have any idea how I can do it? I also have an Acer Android tablet, but it also glitches like all my other devices... So, which one do you recommend I download it on? On my Android phone, Android tablet, or Windows PC? Do you think there could be connection problems during the video call?

Thanks! ;)

Hi,

Maybe Teams doesn't work on 7 because Microsoft has not supported 7 since January 2020.

Take your external hard drive and back up your data. You won't have any trouble:
First, download this link: https://www.microsoft.com/fr-fr/software-download/windows10ISO, then turn the computer upside down to find the Windows 7 label where the license is written.
In parallel:
1/ Open the file explorer in your account folder, normally: C:\Users\JokerKerjo\
2/ Sort the files from largest to smallest
3/ Among the large files, delete what you no longer need. If in doubt, keep the file.
4/ Connect your external hard drive, select your account folder, copy (right-click copy), go to your external hard drive location, (right-click create a folder), name it backup, enter it, (right-click paste)
Your data is backed up.

You can proceed to upgrade from 7 to 10, it's free, you only need the license number written on the label.

You can follow this link: https://lecrabeinfo.net/mettre-a-jour-windows-7-ou-8-1-vers-windows-10.html#avec-loutil-creation-de-media

If ever, for any reason, you no longer have access to the license number (for example, if the label is faded), you can follow this link: https://lecrabeinfo.net/installer-windows-10-le-guide-complet.html

When you reach Step 3: install Windows 10 at point 4 click on I don't have a product key and choose the correct equivalent at point 5. So choose Windows 10 Home Architecture X64

At point 7, you will click on Upgrade: install Windows and keep your files, settings, and apps and follow Microsoft's instructions.

Once 10 is installed, you can download and install Teams. And you will have a more secure PC.

Hi,

Thank you very much, I will try to follow all this, I'm not very good with computers. I want to point out that the PC is a Dell. (It's the computer that the regions provided to high school students).

It's because I have one. And the ink from the label has partly faded. This is due to friction; the label is under the computer. The best thing is that you manage to read the license number. That way, you'll write it down during the upgrade, and it will save you from reading:

If for any reason you no longer have access to the license number (for example, if the ink on the label has faded), you can follow this link: https://lecrabeinfo.net/installer-windows-10-le-guide-complet.html

When you reach Step 3: install Windows 10 at point 4, click on I don’t have a product key. Choose the right equivalent at point 5. So, select Windows 10 Home Architecture X64

At point 7, you will click instead on Upgrade: install Windows and keep files, settings, and applications, and follow the instructions from Microsoft.

Yes, by the way, my son is turning 25, and it seems to me that it was the 1st or 2nd year that the region was giving these laptops to high school students. The first generation of computers from the region. It must have been in 2011 or 2012. Thank you for your help. ;)

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/hardware-requirements-for-the-teams-app

I was just thinking, Microsoft doesn't support 7 for Teams. An upgrade should fix the problem.

Your Dell may only have 2 GB of RAM, Microsoft’s documentation indicates 4 GB for Teams. Don't worry, it should work.

This computer isn't a powerhouse in 2021, you might encounter issues with software and even with Teams. On a search engine, you can type: "Dell Vostro XXX user manual EN" with XXX being the model number of your Dell, maybe the 3360.

For the Dell Vostro 3360, you end up here: https://downloads.dell.com/manuals/all-products/esuprt_laptop/esuprt_vostro_notebook/vostro-3360_owner%27s%20manual_en-us.pdf

That's great, you have easy access to the RAM and hard drive. Do you often use this PC?

With: https://www.malekal.com/connaitre-configuration-materielle-ordinateur/#Depuis_les_informations_systemes
Can you send me the processor and the amount of RAM?

I found this review: https://www.lesnumeriques.com/ordinateur-portable/dell-vostro-v131-p11848.html Certainly, the processor is old but still sprightly for office and web use.

According to my research, you should have the Intel Celeron 847 processor.

I mostly use my tablet and smartphone, but yes, I can use this PC from time to time. The problem is that it’s not connected to my private Wifi, I'm using the public SFR network... And that's probably why it's slow, I imagine.

It says Intel Celeron inside TM.

I suspected that the EN was not going to provide the one with the i5 processor, which is significantly more powerful than the Celeron.

When you’ve done the upgrade, make sure to enable the Wifi connection in your place instead. For downloading Windows 10, plug an RJ45 cable into your internet box.

Actually, the wifi is activated (NB6 Box from SFR, ADSL), (still no fiber in my village), it is connected to all my devices including the smart TV except on this PC, I don't know how it works, I had already tried but nothing works.

Do you manage to get a good WiFi network with the Box in a small closed room? At my place, I lose a lot of signal at 4 meters WITHOUT any obstacles.

Oops, I didn't see your question.

Yes, it works, but sometimes the Wi-Fi disconnects by itself. After that, I don't completely close the door to the closet to avoid "stuffy smells."

And I changed the box in January 2021; I kept the last one for 5 years, it wasn't working anymore, it was the same.

If anyone has an answer, please.

Thank you very much.

Hi,

As planned, I'm here to give some news.

The video call went well, without any connection issues, I ended up following it on my Archos phone. The computer is too slow.

Thanks again and have a good evening.

Hi,

Archos doesn't make powerful smartphones, so if your video call worked well, it's your computer that has a problem. You should upgrade to Windows 10 and then start a thread on the forum: https://forums.commentcamarche.net/forum/virus-securite-7
