No sound on Firefox despite reinstallation

Hello everyone!
For about two weeks now, I've been experiencing intermittent sound issues, only on France Inter, sometimes France Culture. Suddenly, no sound on the Bluetooth speaker I was using. YouTube was working fine, though.
I had to switch to another Bluetooth speaker, or disconnect and reconnect the one I was using, or switch to the speakers on my HP Pavilion.
Last night, just before a video call, there was suddenly no sound anywhere: neither headphones, nor speakers, nor through the HDMI connected to the TV. No Netflix, no YouTube, nothing at all.
For my computer, the diagnostics said everything was fine.
I checked the following things:
- audio files and videos stored on my computer or on an external hard drive = sound OK
- various sites via Microsoft Edge = sound OK
So, I first tried to fix Firefox, but that didn't work.
I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox: still nothing...
I'm stuck at this point.
I sometimes make typing errors, and I think I must have accidentally pressed a wrong keyboard shortcut that told my HP to stop transmitting sound through Firefox. That seems crazy, but... ?
Does anyone else encounter this type of problem with FF? What could it be otherwise?
Thanks in advance :)

Hello
Do you have Windows 10?
If yes, go to the bottom right of your screen next to the clock
there should normally be a speaker icon
right click/open volume mixer
and check if the volume for Mozilla Firefox is not set to zero or if the speaker icon is crossed out (muted mf)
-
Yes yes, tested :)
Actually, when I reinstalled FF, it appeared in the mixer, level 67 so I should have had sound, but no. Then I restarted the computer, and now it's not even showing in the mixer. So, did HP remove it? What a strange thing... -
I already reinstalled this afternoon, however, keeping my settings (passwords, for example). Is that what would make the difference?

firefox open
reopen volume mixer
check if the volume of Mozilla Firefox is not set to zero
check if the speaker icon (under the vertical volume bar) is not crossed out
then
close the audio mixer (not firefox)
right-click on the same speaker icon (next to the clock) /open sound settings
scroll all the way to the bottom of the page (mouse wheel) to access advanced sound options/volume preferences .....
check if firefox is set to "default" for output/input
after that, there’s no other choice
export/save your bookmarks (bookmarks menu/show all my bookmarks), passwords.
uninstall Firefox,
if they ask if you want to keep your settings: select no
and reinstall it

Well, I was able to reinstall Firefox without the old settings, it didn't work right away, but all of a sudden, ta-da!
Then I struggled to get sound on the Bluetooth speakers, and I fixed that 2 minutes ago by going back to where you sent me: sound settings > advanced options/sound preferences...
I had to choose my Bluetooth speaker, even though I was on "default" settings.
It's honestly not always intuitive...
In the process, I also had to go to the HP support site and download the Realtek and Bluetooth drivers, even though all the diagnostics said I was up to date.
With all that combined, I finally have sound!
I just hope it lasts... :)
Thank you!-
Thank you for clicking on "thank you" and marking the discussion as resolved.

I clicked on a "thank you" that was at the bottom of one of your messages (the first one, I believe) because afterward, the "thank you" button appears in MY messages but not in yours.
Please believe that I searched for the "Resolved" button; it doesn't show up anywhere. Yesterday, I saw it.

So if an admin can do it on my behalf, I would greatly appreciate it.
I am not a member, which may explain this.
Have a nice day :)
