Hello,
I have a problem with my Freebox Mini 4K: the external hard drive is no longer recognized, it was working well, I could record and play the recorded movies without any issues.
What I did was, yesterday I removed the external hard drive to put another one, and since then the original drive that I reinstalled and that was working well is no longer recognized by the Freebox.
On the computer, it asks me to format it.
What should I do? Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello,
First:
Test your hard drive with CrystalDiskInfo use the color codes below to interpret the results, click on the image to enlarge:
If the hard drive is OK.
An external hard drive is a normal hard drive in an enclosure; it is possible that the connection of your enclosure or the USB cable is faulty, try with another USB cable, if it is still the same you take your hard drive out of the enclosure and connect it to a PC, if it works the enclosure is faulty, you just need to change the enclosure see this page be careful there are two sizes 2.5" and 3.5".
If nothing works before formatting your hard drive you can recover the data it contains with https://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec_Etape_par_Etape

Hello,
Yes, you did what you shouldn't have...
- These disks have a special formatting that is not recognized by Windows... Let’s just say there’s an attempted breach...! for Windows, this disk is not recognized and it asks to be formatted to become a Microsoft world disk..
-- On the FreeBox and also on other media devices, this disk is paired with the BOX, the aim being to protect the videos that have been recorded on it... within the framework of copyright..
-- If this disk hasn't undergone any modifications, it should be recognized again when returning to its same FreeBox... it might be necessary to unplug (the wall socket) the BOX for 5 minutes and then restart it.
