Hello,
I installed the beta version of Davinci Resolve 17 and would like to downgrade to 16. How can I open my project started with 17 in version 16? I tried but there's an error message saying that the database is not found. I don't know what to do.
PS: I'm asking the question here because I can't register on the Blackmagic forum, does anyone know what the "middle number" they are asking for is??
Thank you very much!

Hello, I waited to reply to you "sometimes" for an enthusiast of "da Vinci" to respond
I will give you the general principles in this area that concern both your software and your computer. The files of your project are in folders on your hard drive; the music and video capture present in your project. The project is virtual, so it needs to know the "path" of each element it uses to find it on your hard drive
so for a transfer, it needs to be on the same computer with the same software configuration and the same path to the different sources

remember to mark "resolved" on your message if that's the case.

Hello,
It seems that there is no backward compatibility of projects with DaVinci Resolve, as indicated here for version 16 to version 15: https://www.repaire.net/forums/discussions/repasser-a-resolve-15-et-ouvrir-un-projet-resolve-16.283990/
Each version seems to bring its share of new features, so some options from the higher version cannot be opened in a lower version; that's the conclusion I draw from it...
I’m still waiting for the version to be finalized, and not in beta, to install it, but everyone does as they wish ;-)
Best regards

Hello, thank you for your reply!
I have reconnected all the media, but now I can't open the Davinci 17 project in Davinci 16 because it says that you cannot open a newer version in an older version.
I guess there's nothing to be done then! Thanks anyway :)

VideoPad - Video editing software
Help v 8.81
A project file only stores the paths to multimedia files (including video, audio, and image files) and not the entire content of the files. When you load a project file, it tries to find and load the multimedia files using these file paths. If a multimedia file has been moved or deleted, or if the project file itself has been copied or moved to another computer, VideoPad will be unable to find the original multimedia files.
To back up a project and all its multimedia files, or to move a project and all its multimedia files to another computer, select File -> Save project in folder, or Save portable project as. This operation allows you to save a new copy of the project file (.vpj) in the selected folder, and all the multimedia files used in the project will be copied to the same folder. This entire folder can then be saved to backup media or copied or moved to another computer.
