Hello,
In a Word document, I have a table that spans multiple pages. I'm using the "Repeat header row" option to get the first rows at each page break.
One of the header cells contains the fields "page" / "numpage".
Since my table starts on the second page of my 5-page document, the header displays "2/5"... but on the next page, the header correctly repeats, maintaining "2/5" instead of showing "3/5".
I understand that the copy of the header is a "conformant" and unchangeable "image"... Too bad.
Is there a solution to my situation?
Best regards,

Good evening
Put the page number in the header, there are no other solutions.

Thank you for this feedback.
The content of the table is defined by my client, so I absolutely must have the page numbering in the table. I therefore waited until I had finalized all the content of the table, then I split it at each page change to reinsert the header rows. The method is not very elegant, and if the content of the table needs to be modified, those rows will likely need to be moved, but the "visual" result is there.
Thanks anyway.- Hello,
What you did gives the result but it's a patchwork solution and, as you said, you'll have to intervene with each modification. As m@rina told you, the only solution is to put the page number / total number of pages in the header or footer. You need to explain to your client that the tool does not allow for what they are asking and propose your solution. You can explain your workaround to them but specify that it's a patchwork solution with all the drawbacks that entails.
In the Print Titles menu, you have a header/footer tab that contains buttons to put the page numbers; it's already provided for.
Best regards.

Hello,
You have to know how to say no to a client; otherwise, you won't get anywhere.
The client doesn't know Word, and they imagine a lot of things that aren't necessarily feasible. It's the supplier's (that is, your) job to explain what's possible and what's not.
It's something I do regularly, because wanting is not enough... Office work is not "magic"...
One solution would be to make the title rows of the table headers, if the section allows for it... and to ensure that these rows correspond exactly with the table... but still... it's a pretty mediocre solution.

From now on, if a user tells me "it doesn't work" without any further info..., I'm done!
