Hello, for some time now, I have a problem with the Windows Defender firewall, which is currently disabled.
For your information, my computer is an Asus, it runs on Windows 10 Professional, and Windows Update does not indicate any updates to be performed.
To assist you, I will add some screenshots.
In the control panel, under the firewall category, it tells me to update the firewall settings and to use recommended settings.

When I try to use the recommended settings, my computer displays an error message which is as follows.
"Windows Defender Firewall cannot modify some of your settings.
Error code 0x80070422"
Therefore, I cannot enable the firewall in Settings>Update & Security>Windows Security>Firewall & network protection>One of the 3 networks
The option to enable it is greyed out and set to "disable".

Even before selecting a network, a message displays:
"Windows Defender Firewall uses settings that may compromise the security of your device"
Even if I click on "Restore settings", nothing happens

I have searched for solutions extensively but found absolutely nothing ):
If someone has the solution to this problem, it would be great!

Good evening Kiilla,
Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, when I click on "allow a program or feature through Windows Firewall", I get the message again telling me to use the recommended settings, and the error message reappears. :/

Too bad it didn't work, honestly I don't see how I can help you; try >
Control Panel > System and Security > Windows Defender Firewall > on the left click on Default settings at random.
Or else try a Windows repair via USB stick.
Try that to see if you have any missing or damaged Windows files.
On the desktop at the bottom left, search bar > type cmd > right-click on Command Prompt > run as administrator > it will open a black window, copy and paste this line in there > sfc/scannow and press enter.
Let the test run and tell me at the end if it detected that Windows had missing or damaged files and whether it repaired them or not at all.

Hello Kiilla,
I'm copying what I've been told:
Windows Resource Protection has detected corrupted files and has repaired them.
For online repairs, details are included in the CBS log file located at the following path:
windir\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For example: C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log. For offline repairs, details are included in the log file provided by the /OFFLOGFILE switch.
However, my problem is still not resolved, so I am going to repair my computer.
Thank you for your help!

So there were indeed files, corrupted ones. Didn't you catch a virus? Because that's often the case; viruses damage Windows files or others.
It's a shame it didn't solve the problem; I had an inkling. We'll have to go through Windows repair, no choice. I've read that other people have indicated what to do, and besides, your Windows is not up to date; you are behind. At least you will have the latest updates.
You're welcome! When we can help, normally the repair should fix your problem. Good luck!

Hello.
If your version is 2004, go directly to Windows 10, Version 2009-20H2. This should normally solve the problem. No files or applications installed by you will be deleted. Nevertheless, and Microsoft itself advises this, please back up all your personal files (photos-documents-music-videos) on an external hard drive. Bugs are rare, but you never know.
Type winver in the search and check which version the PC is currently running.
See you later . . .
PS = WARNING! . . . If you have installed a third-party antivirus, you will need to uninstall it so as not to disrupt the new installation 2009. Also, if your PC is a laptop, plug in the charger/power supply as the PC must not turn off under any circumstances.
