Hello everyone
I can't insert a photo into an Open Office Writer page
the result is black, can you help me?
Note that I have no problem with the same action in Calc.

Good evening.

I'm not sure I understood "Note that I have no problem with the same action in spreadsheet".
You mean the Calc spreadsheet, I presume?
Could you send us two files, a blank Writer document and a blank Calc file, in which you insert the same photo? Please specify how you proceed with these insertions.
 1) Go to https://www.cjoint.com/
2) Click on [Browse] to select your file (maximum 15 MB)
3) Scroll down to click the blue button [Create the Cjoint link]
4) After a few seconds, the second page will appear, with the link in bold; right click on it and choose "Copy link"
5) Return to your discussion on CCM, and in your message do "Paste".

Hello Raymond,
Thank you for your response. I’m attaching a writer file and a blank spreadsheet in which I insert photos. Previously, the insert (image) function worked normally.
In the writer file, I use the insert menu and then image, and normally the image is placed in the file at the marker’s location.
In the spreadsheet (or calc), I use the insert menu and then image, and normally the image is placed in the file at the marker’s location, except that I just noticed that I have the same result
which is a black object.
I will install Open Office 4.1.7 (currently 4.1.6), I’ll keep you updated.
Have a good end of Sunday and take care.

Good evening
abnormal behavior => see the profile purge
press the WINDOWS key (a flag) and R (simultaneously).
-Then, type %appdata%
-Look for the OpenOffice or libreoffice folder
-Rename it to OldOpenOffice or Oldlibreoffice

Good evening yclik
I don't understand, what is the purpose of your message? Mr. Pentier's response seems correct to me.

After trying to rename OpenOffice to OldOpenOffice: it does not change the problem
of the black image.

after uninstalling OpenOffice 4.1.6, I installed 4.1.7, no need to rename
OpenOffice = OldOpenOffice
it doesn't change the problem

Ah? Sorry: I expressed myself poorly!
I wasn't asking for completely blank files, but files containing only a photo inserted... the same photo, and inserted in the same way.

Unlike what you write, you are not working on Writer and Calc files, but on Word and Excel files, as they are saved in Microsoft formats.
This may be enough to explain the difficulty in inserting an image.
Try again by saving your files in Writer and Calc formats to see if it works better...

I uninstalled OO 4.1.6 and installed OO 4.1.7
When we open writer, we cannot choose the file type. I save the file in odt
but the result is the same, the image is black. I don't see how to open writer in
odt.

Good evening Raymond
I'm getting back to you because I noticed that my problem was due to 2 photos, and so it is indeed possible to insert a photo into a .doc file in Open Office.
Thank you nonetheless for your help.

Hi
On Wikipedia, OpenOffice is at version 3.3.0 for the latest version.
Maybe you’re talking about LibreOffice which is at version 7.0.1? You're several versions behind. You should update.
Are you on Windows or Linux?

The OpenOffice version 4.1.7 is the latest version on the OpenOffice.org website. I am on Windows 10.

The information provided is fragmentary, and the attached documents are useless for reproducing any malfunction.
From what I gather, it's that the images embedded in the document are too large.
One solution would be to install the PixCompress extension and optimize the document:
