Good evening,
I am looking to swap two words in the same cell in LibreOffice WRITER.

I found some clues related to Table>Convert, but apart from adding tables within a table, I didn't quite grasp the subtleties :-(
an illustration of my issue: to get from a column that displays "first name last name"
to a display of "last name.first name".
Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

    Good evening.

I’m afraid you’ll have to do this work manually...
Indeed, Writer won’t know what to do with
    • Valéry Giscard d'Estaing
    • Charles de Gaulle
    • Jean Marie Bigard
    • Catherine de Saint Phalle
    • Jacques Henri Lartigue
    • Jose Maria de Heredia
    • Charles-Humbert-René de La Tour du Pin Chambly de La Charce see here

    Hello

    Greetings Raymond

    arscy

You may not have completed "convert"

An example (this is my first attempt)

If it's something else, further clarification will be needed.

Thank you for this enlightening tutorial PapyLuc51,

However, I’m stuck at the second step:
Indeed, as soon as I validate the text conversion into a table, 2 tables are formed inside my column instead of "on top".
As a result, I can no longer select this column :-(

It may be necessary to go through the last step (transforming the table into text) before restarting the process.

Send me an example of your file so I can see it.

    Best regards

        Hello
The process can be done in two steps
        1) select the entire table
        In the toolbar
Table > Convert > table to text
indicate space as the separator an empty space in "other"
        2) once the table is in text
        select the entire table
        In the toolbar
Table > Convert > text to table
indicate space as the separator an empty space in "other"
then reverse the columns for name and surname and readjust the column headers

I admit that I hadn't thought of applying this strategy to the entire table.

Of course, it involves solving the issue mentioned earlier by Raymond, possibly by playing around with "-" and/or by merging the hyphenated last names. With a list of 400 people, it requires quite a bit of work, but for my document, we're managing pretty well.
        Thank you very much!
